we've had multiple problems with our bands this trip, seems we have too many bands active. Anyway the concierge said that the bands have been causing them so much problems that they are not going to be rolled out in any of the other parks.

image.jpg All of the following bands plus about 12more are active to my single person. Plus many more for every other person on my MDE account. We don't have issues with ours, most issues people have is due to how they are used. As to them not being rolled out due to issues is a lie, they are at WDW due to the vast amount of uses and Infrastructure here at WDW. The other parks are small, people stay offsite, dining plans aren't as vast, and the biggest issue is poeplemdont stay as long as they do at WDW.

I have 24 and 2 more on the way for upcoming visits and never have a problem with any of them.

An article came out about shanghai is not going to use the bands even though they installed the system. They are heading towards a mobile phone/tablet replacing the magic bands. The system in a slightly altered manor will make it ways into all the parks but magic bands are going to be a thing of the past in the not to distant future.

I had issues with mine once where I had to deactivate one of my older bands in order for the new to work. I was told it was because I had to many bands associated with the account. So Idk. It was very odd. So for my upcoming trip in september I just created a new MDE account for that and other reasons

Back in the day we were one of the test groups when they first introduced the bands. We were told at the time that there was a 7 band limit. Since then either they corrected that or it was just a rumor.

This is the 21st century or so I've been told by my daughter. 2 weeks ago is ancient, 1 year ago is dinosaur-riding old.

We had problems last year that the ipad-wielding CMs at the gates could not resolve. We had to go to member services, and it took 20-30 minutes for them to figure it out. The CM at member services actually had to call a phone support line for additional help. I don't know exactly what the problem was, but she said it was related to the bands from our last trip being active. I deactivated all of our old bands in advance of our upcoming trip. They gave us an additional FP+ to use anywhere that day for the trouble.

We always have issues... But it is because we as a family have 127 or so bands attached to our name. We have tried numerous times to have CM attempt to remove some, but our next trip we have the same issues. But these issues are fixed within a few mins after we arrive. And as we have been told by almost all the cast members, it's because we go so often. And I know there are worse things that can happen in life then go to Disney World too much. So it is what it is.

I'm amazed at the amount of times I've seen people say "that's a lie", insinuate someone is lying, or flat out calling someone a liar because they either have new information that may not be public or the are passing along information a CM told them. Contrary to what many of us Disney Nerds believe, we don't know it all. I just don't know why we have to be so outright negative all the time.

I wasn't trying to be negative... But thanks for assuming that. I've been on both sides of the magic band and ha used them before most people on this board. I'm not saying that there hasn't been issues with MyMagic+ in the beginning but that isn't why the bands hasn't moved to the other parks. It was a huge undertaking to install the hardware, train the cast and then train the guests on the system. I remember when the first payment TTP devices rolled out, cast had more issues with pressing the correct button(yes just one) on the screen than with scanning the band it self. In order to implement the system at the other parks the training costs would easily double what the hardware would cost. Seeing as the other parks don't have the large infrastructure that WDW does as stated in my original message it's just not worth the investment.

Your comment was negative, period. You stated what he said was a lie. There was no assumption on my part, that's a negative statement. What's more, your pious statement of "I've ... Used them before most people on this board." is rather negative and assuming as well. You've no idea of the history of the people on this board.

No I do not know about most people on the board, but I got to see and operate the bands before they were rolled out to any guest testing. I'm sorry that you feel that you feel the information that I post is incorrect but from the internal info I've read and been apart of its accurate to me. And the way you have to keep telling me "I'm wrong" seems pretty negative to me..

Never mind I see you have to constantly blast people for having there own views on the board. Way to call the kettle black. image.pngimage.png

It's false, no it's not false. Negative, not negative. Let's all of us put on our long pants. Gee!

I have two simultaneous, contradictory thoughts:

(o) Cell phone technology in Asia has been generations ahead of where we are in the U.S. for a while now; it makes sense to go with a phone-based "Magic Band" system

(o) If they went to all the trouble -- and expense! -- of installing the MB infrastructure, why on earth would they not implement it?!
