Magic Bands at the Parks

Staying offsite and need to purchase MBs. The disneystore.com selection is pretty limited (solid colors only). Is there a better selection of MBs (i.e., with characters) in the parks? Is it easy to link them on the fly if we buy the MBs in the park after entering with tickets?

There are a number of character MagicBands available for sale at various locations around the WDW Resort. There will be a CM available where the retail MagicBands are sold to assist you in linking them.

You can also buy the bands from third parties online (just google it) for a small premium. I've been seeing the character bands for about $35 plus shipping, which you then link at home and have immediate use when you get to the parks.

FYI, the ones with characters will cost more than the solid color ones. (I think maybe $20 for "regular" ones and $30 for limited edition ones.) And you don't "need" to purchase Magic Bands. You can if you want, but they're not necessary.

Your only "free" option is the solid-color bands.

MagicBand Collectors website has photos of all available Character MBs, their cost, and where in the resort they can be purchased.

With a Disney Resort Reservation, you can only select one of the 7 solid color MagicBands.
