Are our magic bands needed when using the DME transportation?

Yes. I'm sure you could still use the booklet they send you too, but the magic bands are what they ask you to have on you, and use to get in the line. Its actually pretty cool to see that green light and away you go to start your vacation!

You will need either your MB or the voucher they send you in the booklet to check in. If you don't have either of those then they will just direct you to the desk area, check your reservation and print you a voucher to board the bus.

They are not *needed*. Remember there are countless international guests who do not gets their MBs until resort checkin
