Magic Bands arrived today and their are 'Discount Cards' included

A set of Magic Bands just arrived and there are two plastic discount cards enclosed, one for each of us, to be used to get the PAP discount. AP sliders were included, but not the DVC ones. Last trip in March, I don't remember the discount cards. We just whipped out our actual passes if we wanted the discount. Something new?

What you got were bands ordered through your annual pass, which also include the annual pass discount/parking card.

You get DVC sliders with the bands you order with your room reservation.

That's interesting. I thought we only got bands in association w/ our room reservations. I did not 'deliberately' order AP bands. I'm not complaining, but we're going to have to continue to carry cards for things, which I thought, correctly or not, was one of the reasons for the bands. I am still learning (and then they change something, and I have to re-learn!) Ha! Thanks much.

You only have to carry the cards if you want a discount. They're more than happy to charge you full price with only the band. But, keep in mind that you'll need ID for alcohol and emergencies, so you'll be carrying some cards anyway.

At least for now, when you stay on property you will get bands and if your account is set up properly the APs will be linked. The AP bands are primarily for trips where you are not staying on property. The discount cards also cover the parking benefits. Be prepared to show the card and a photo ID.

There would be nothing to stop an AP holder from giving one of their extra bands to a family member for the discounts. All they would need would be the PIN number. They have to have some way to prove that it is actually you so you can expect to always need to pull out some sort of card, whether it is the discount card, an AP and/or a photo ID.

I think you can ask for the DVC sliders when you check in.

I am confused. We have a DVC reservation for the end of October. It is linked to the MDE account. The only customization I can locate on the MDE page is the color and name for each Magic Band. How do I get a customized DVC band as I cannot locate where to do that in MDE?

There are no DVC specific MagicBands. If you have customized MagicBands for your DVC points reservation, there will be DVC MagicSliders packaged with the Resort MagicBands.

If you have an Active AP linked to MDE, there should be a pending order for MagicBands for the Passholder Affiliation.

Are they linked to the MDE app/acct..if so it should show up and say something about customizing bands... I did some in the Spring before my AP pass expired because I never got sliders with the DVC reservations(I now have them from summer trip) so I saw this thing in the MDE site and just clicked and customized the bands and they came right away. But as we know they are constantly changing thing I probably have 8 bands now and have to customize my bands for Oct trip...
