For those that have been on trips with the magic bands and little kids, how have they done with the bands? DS just turned 4 and DD is 6. I think DD will be okay because she likes bracelets and all. I'm concerned about DS. I know I can hold his band but if he wants to wear it, have you had luck with them staying on your kids arms? I've seen where they sell sliders - are these worth it and would they help keep from possibly loosing the bands?

Just looking for some opinions on how others have found this to work. TIA!

They stay on fine and should come with a slider to help with that. Also, you're able to peel away the outer layer of the band to make a smaller one perfectly sized for smaller wrists. Don't think you'll have any problems.

My son, 4, didn't like wearing his. It never fell off but we peeled the outer edge and made it smaller and then it was almost too tight. I ended up keeping it in my bag and pulling it out for FP+ and park entrance.

DD4 and DS6 loved theirs. Loved opening the room, loved using them in the parks when using FP, loved just wearing them in general.

We took the gray part off to make them fit them better and had no issues with them staying on.

First make it small enough to fit them nicely. Then IMO, get a coverband from Disney. Those circle around the band, giving you a little extra time between the band coming unclipped and the band falling off. They are also a nice material that helps the band not feel so sweaty.

This surprises me, I know I have a small wrist but I have to wear my MB on the last slot for the kids and first on the adult part of the band and even then it isn't even tight on me. :confused3

My 6 year old ... who is pretty tiny ... would absolutely kill me if I DIDN'T let her where it! LOL! I actually didn't realize on either of our last two trips that they could be sized to fit tiny wrists. We just wore it on the smallest setting and she did fine in the pool, in the parks, everywhere... no issues whatsoever.

I think when on they are very secure. I worried too about then coming off. My DD is super picky about what she wears and didn't want to wear hers. I ended up keeping it on the key holder thing on my purse and just pulling it out when needed. Really used mine a lot for purchases, memory maker, etc. but in the parks the kids only really need them to get in and the FP+. I also saw a couple of people who just would wear their kids. Either 2 on one wrist or one on either wrist.

The sliders are not to keep the bands from falling off, especially if you have a kid who will play with it and pick at the fasteners.

My dd lost hers on Pirates. Not sure how it came off. She was devastated, thinking it meant she couldn't get back in the park! We were told to just get a replacement (gray) one at our resort. Gasp, not pink! Luckily, we had a 2nd set for an added night. CM gave us no problem rest of the day in park, and we activated the new band during our break.

Our kids were 7 and 4 last year when we went and had no problem keeping the bands on. There was only one night when my son asked me to hold his and I just put it on the strap to my bag.

Thank you everyone! I appreciate all of the input. DH even suggested to me to let DS practice wearing it over the next couple weeks.

My 2,6 and 8 year olds all loved them! They all wore them all day, everyday! I also peeled off the outer grey edge to make it got more comfortably. We've been home for 2 weeks and they still wear them!

How much smaller is it when you convert it to child size? Dd is four, but has thick wrists. Someone above mentioned that converting it made it too small for their kid. I assumed that it was just the next increment smaller when loosened entirely and then you could adjust smaller as needed, like a belt.

But I haven't actually seen one of them yet, so maybe I'm misunderstanding how the adjustment works. Just don't want to make it smaller trying to get a better fit and accidentally and irreversibly make it too small--dd would be so unhappy with plain grey replacement.

DS7 also LOVED wearing his. He wanted to unlock the door, pay for dining, fastpass, park entrance......it was also very exciting for him! No problems with it coming off. He has a small wrist but we didn't take the outer band off, just left it as is.

This reminds me, I need to go order our new ones, we want some different colors this trip!

Just wait until you get them to see. No use figuring it out now. :)

Those bitbelts are cute, but wowza are they expensive unless you're buying the sets! And I think a coverband works better, personally.

OP here. We have returned from our trip so I thought I would update how things went :) We were at WDW for 9 days, 8 of which consisted of park days. My kids, 6 and 4, loved the magic bands (and we did to!). I was concerned about it falling off the 4 year old or possibly loosing it. It was never an issue. The band stayed on with no problem. I was the only one to knock mine off on the last day when I was messing with my backpack and got it caught (but it landed in my hand so no problem loosing it). They loved using them for photopass and to open the doors. Getting into the parks and fastpass were also a breeze with no problems with the kids.
Thanks to everyone for the reassurance before we left!!
