I'm wondering if there is a set max you can charge each day or each trip? And if there is a max, how do you 'top up.'

Will this also work in Disney Springs for shopping?

Do you need to carry cash for any reason?

Thanks!

Disney sets a spending limit based on your resort level -- $500 for value, $1,000 for moderate, $1,500 for deluxe. The easiest way to keep yourself from reaching the limit is to stop by the front desk and ask that they process your room charges when you're at or near the $500/$1,000/$1,500. They'll then charge the credit card on file, thus starting the cycle from $0 again.

Yes.

I highly recommend having some cash on you as computers do go down. If that happens, you'll be unable to use your MB or credit card.

Is there a way to look up easily where you are in your spending on MDE, or do you need to keep a separate tally?

Do the Magic Bands work at the little Food Stands too - like Churro stands or Turkey Legs or Ice Cream etc???

Thanks again!

Another question - is that limit per room or band? Thinking my DH and I... :) Would actually rather have double the amount to allow for Vacation spending. :)

Your magic band is just like a room key so as mentioned above it give you access to your room charging privileges and that does depend on the level of resort. When you check in and give them your cc'd you will get your limit and set your pin for charging.

You can charge at WDW properties including Disney Springs and parks but like a pp said I carry a bit of cash as well as an additional credit card or debit card just in case.

A lot of the little kiosks with take the MB. Very few don't, like the balloon vendor on Main St. The limit is per room, not person. You can also get a printout of the days spend at your resort front desk. Items post instantly.

It is per room but you could just go to the desk and ask them to charge your cc'd card to date and that re-sets your limit.

Your bands can be used for purchases basically anywhere there is a cash register. As for the limit I am uncertain. I know that your bank will also have a hand in setting a limit in general.

Also...if you have a credit card on file, it will just auto charge at your resort threshold.

We are DVC members and always stay at a DVC resort. When we stay there for 10 days or more and With shopping and a lot of eating out we go over 1500 rather quickly sometimes. I never even knew they would stop your privileges. We've never had that happen. I just assumed they would keep charging your card without question. Interesting to know.

Make sure you understand what a Magic Band is and isn't. It is a piece of plastic that accesses your MDE account, acts as your room key, and can charge items to your room, etc. It isn't a method of payment in and of itself, it isn't something that keeps actual data on it (you don't link a CC to your MB). When you use your MB at a kiosk, you are not charging to a credit card. You are charging to your room which you can then pay with a credit card.

Balloon vendor! Good point! Balloons are around $10 each, am I correct?

Thank you! That makes perfect sense. I was somehow thinking I could link my Credit Card to my MB. First year with the MBs!

This hasn't been the case with me - if you get close to or go over you loose privileges. I have had to go to the desk and ask them to charge my card and reset my limit as stated above. This was recent - December 15 and April 16.

I wonder if you can ask and have this set up. :)

It was $12 and the typical Mickey Head. They sent me to a little side street, off of Main St, by Arrabias Bros to pay (a person doing sketches who had a machine) and then come back to show the receipt.

Hmm...don't know then. We were auto charged when in a value once a couple year back. We are DVC now and stay at Poly so we don't usually get near the $1500 threshold. I have been into getting gift cards at discounts so I go down and pay every couple days to bring the balance down to 0.

We've never had our privileges stopped when hitting the limit and we go over that limit probably a few times. They just charge our card and reset.

Whenever we've hit the threshold for our resort level, it's only taken a phone call from the cashier wherever we were (shop or restaurant) to our resort. They then charged our card and reset our spending again at zero.
