Magic Bands 101

The name is printed on the inside of the band and is not decorative. It is more for identification purposes so you don't mix them up with someone else's. Neither the personalization nor the colored bands cost anything.

You can purchase different band decorations in the shops, but they are not mandatory. I do not know if you can add both a sleeve and bandits. Perhaps another poster will be able to help.

Yes you can, you just need something to make a very small hole in the sleeve so the bandits go in.

So my magic bands are being shipped in 5 days. I do not have tickets yet but will get them soon. Do I just add them to my MDE account when I get them and then they will be in my bands?

You add them to your MDE account and then they will be in your account. The bands do not store anything. They have a chip that can access whatever is linked to your MDE account. So yes, you add them to your account and then you can use your bands to get into the parks.

I was able to customize my bands today for my trip starting 11/23. I also have the page to book FP+....thanks for the info. I am soo confused!!
BTW,it says I have until 10/24 to customize the bands.

The scanners are to your left as you enter each park so having the bands on your left hand makes entry easier. Some lefties have reported having issues when the band is on their right hand.

Has anyone staying at Coronado Springs gotten FP + ? A friend is staying there in Nov and wondering. If not, how does a split stay work . Can she come a day early and stay at another hotel that has FP + and get her bands to use her whole trip that way?

All resorts will have MBs and FP+ by 10/25.

Is there a way to check the details of your itinerary off your magic band? Not all members of our party have smart phones, so I was wondering if there was a kiosk or something where you could tap your band and see a read out.

There are kiosks in each park. I have not yet used them so i don't know if they will show you what you have scheduled. Perhaps someone else can provide more info.

In the other magic band thread which has since been locked (due to size I hope) I questioned what to do if I had lost my AP and how to make FP+ reservations since my step daughter lost hers. I was told by some people here that if I didn't have the number for the AP then I was out of luck, which is what I kind of figured and it was my own fault for not writing it down or scanning it, especially before giving it to her for a school trip . But I called Disney just to check and see if there was anything they could do. They basically said the same thing, I am out of luck, until I can get a new AP when we arrive. However, and here is the interesting thing which provides an update, they told me that even if I had the number it wouldn't matter because when they give you a new AP they provide a new number. If I had the original AP number I could assign it to my stepdaughter, and get FP+ but when we replaced the AP upon arrival at a park, those FP+ reservations would be lost when she got her new AP. So just something else to keep in mind with this new great system. I guess down the road when you buy an AP and it automatically goes on the MB it won't matter but right now with the linking of the hard tickets it sucks. Should also add that she did say this does NOT apply to regular MYW tickets since when those are replaced they can use the same number.

Sorry if there is a better thread for this, I was going to post the update in the other thread but it was locked. Please feel free to move if there is a better thread somewhere, I wasn't sure because there are so many FP+ and MB threads, definitely didn't want to add to the insanity.

Just wanted to share that we arrived 2 days ago and are LOVING the MBs! Work like a charm for hotel entry from the front or pool, room entry, park entry, and charging to the room. Great at the food and wine booths. Our FP+ functionality kicks in on 10/5. We LOVE them!!! So much easier with the kids.

I should add that I HATE wearing watches or jewelry (only wear my wedding rings), and I actually find this comfortable to wear. Who knew?!?

Concierge and guest services should be able to print off your itineraries.

I know it's all speculation at this point yet...but here's my question:

DH wants absolutely nothing to do with MB's. He wants only KTTW cards for our next trip in December. I'm a little more open to them, but I'd still prefer the old cards, too.

Can I customize our MB's when December opens up, and then when we get there, can we request KTTW cards instead, or as back-up? I'm afraid of the "hours spent at guest services" MB horror stories, and I'm 100% certain that DD4 will lose hers the first day.

If we HAVE TO use MB's, I want a pretty pink one, so that's why I was thinking I should still customize them...just in case.

So I'm still confused over the whole MB & FP+ so I guess I will just have to wait until I'm closer to my arrival date and see if anything magically appears in MDE. (I arrive Dec 9th)

My reservation is for a party of three but we are meeting up with another party of five. The other party does not have an online account and each member is listed in my family & friends indicating I manage their accounts. We are all at the same resort arriving the same day but my party is staying 3 days longer.

I have the reservation # for the other party as we've requested joining/or close by rooms so can add this to my online account if needed.

Working on the premise that something will magically happen and I can order bands and/or make my fast pass choices I'm wondering the following:

Will I be able to make fast pass selections for all 8 of us or only the 3 on my reservation?

If I can make the selections I'm guessing all members would have to have the same ride? This could be a problem as my party is 3 adults the other party is 2 adults and 3 small children.

If we want different selections for each party then I'm guessing each party would have to have a separate account.

Can I customise all the bands or only the 3 on my reservation?

I've also ordered photopass + on my reservation and as we are going to be together for most character meals I will be present to scan this but if we do split up will pp+ be a separate card or will it be attached to one band?

One thing to add: we also used the MBs to play Sorcerers of the Magic Kingdom. They put the "key" on the band. Worked like a charm so far.

I'm one of the people who can't link my UT plastic tickets to MDE. The gentleman on post 152 said his were linked. A lady posted today that WDW told her there was "no way" to ever link discounted tickets?

Are UT tickets considered discounted tickets?

Should I just quit thinking about this??
