Magic Band Went Through the Washing Machine...

Hi Disfriends!

I just returned from a WDW trip and I discovered that my magic band went through a cycle in the washing machine; thankfully, I found it before it went into the dryer. While I know that magic bands are fine to wear in the pools or in the shower, I wonder if they are ok to go through the wash? I am heading back to WDW at the end of March, and I really want to use this magic band again for that trip. I just want to make sure it will work; I definitely don't want to get to Orlando and find that my band isn't functioning properly. Is there a way to determine if it's still functioning? Through MDE maybe? It's a regular magic band, not a magic band+, if that helps?

Mine went through hot water the heavy duty wash cycle with no harmful side effects!

MB probably 'floated' for most of the cycle . It should be fine.

Considering the chemicals and intensity of the water parks that we all wear our band at, I would say your band is fine.

Stop by the front desk on your way to the room and ask them to scan the band. They will be able to tell. If it doesn't work, they'll give you a free KTTW card which serves most of the same functions (room key, charging, park entry, LL).

But yeah, your existing band will likely work.

In an emergency, you can also use the Disney smartphone app and/or Apple Watch to perform many of the same functions. When your room is ready, the app will have an "unlock door" indicator on the home page. Look for the "Magic Mobile" feature to add functions like park entry, LL and shopping to the phone or watch.

Thanks all! I found my magic band in a pocket, so it was definitely submerged for the entire wash cycle. I'll ask the front desk to check to make sure the magic band is still functioning.

the only thing that may be impacted is the long range transmitter for ride photos and screen interactions. Your ability to "tap" won't be impacted unless you sent the magic band through a shredder.
