We have our magic bands but no sliders. Are these really necessary to prevent them from falling off (on kids especially?) Searched all over and can't find any good answers on this. thanks!

We've only used Magic Bands once, but they were never an issue. Not once did they fall off or feel like they were going to. Personal choice I think.

In my experience they are not needed at all and in fact extra things on my magic band are extremely annoying to me.

Half the time I find it difficult to undo my magic band so I know its not gonna just come off on its own.

I've gone with small children wearing them and they have never lost one or had one fall off.

Three trips with magicbands so far...have not had one come loose or feel at risk of being pulled off. This includes a couple of January trips with jackets on and off all day, and even that didn't disturb the magicband. They feel pretty secure to me.

I've never used any.. they are just trinkets to buy to decorate your band. if they didn't stay on, it would come with one. Disney can't have everyones hotel room key constantly being lost.

We traveled with a large party consisting of 4 kids in March and no one had sliders and none of them fell off! : ) I think it's more for decoration (and money making- haha!) Than anything!

It may not look as classy, but you could always wrap a small rubberband on the MB a few times, and then use that as extra protection to hold it on.

This is exactly what we did. Used those tiny ones used to hold small braids. They were fixed on the inside of the wrist and weren't an eyesore. They make clear ones and offered piece of mind.

I think it's a personal preference. For me, I will never wear a magic band without a BitBelt (similar to sliders, but not as cumbersome I think). I tend to be a worry wart, and ever since my first experience with a magic band in 2014 (when it got hooked on my shorts belt and popped off), I find it's worth it to spend a few dollars for peace of mind. Side note: I still use the same BitBelt I got in 2014, so they are pretty durable too. Also, Shannon at WDW Prep School recommends them and you can use code "wdwprepschool" to get 15% off! Hope this helps!

We're leaving in one day and I bought bit belts. It would be a pain to have to replace one of the bands in the middle of everything. For the cost of a drink or snack, they are cute and give an extra layer of protection. I'm rather rough on jewelry and I have a habit of taking off my watch and then lose it or leave it somewhere. Same feeling with the magic bands. I just like keeping things on me. So I need a bit more security.

Anything on my wrist annoys me - a lot, so my magic band spends a lot of time on my purse strap and it didn't come loose once in our ten days at disney and it didn't have a slider on it.

I had a problem with a magic band once. It was the first trip we had them, they were basically brand new to Disney. I was on test track and when I was getting my stuff to get out of the car I realized my magic band was on the floor! Not sure how it happened, but it hasn't happened in the many trips since.

Funny story that happened to a friend... He was on aerosmith and when he got off he realized his magic band was missing. He got home from his trip and saw his photo pass picture and the magic band was flying off his wrist in the picture!!!

I would recommend bitbelts.

Mine did fall of and my son lost his one in Disney Junior and another time in the lake at Epcot when his rucksack knocked it off. After that we bought bitbelts for the rest of the holiday. This was our third trip and we never had an issue the first two times so not sure if they are now not as strong.

I have so many trips under my belt that our chain or magic bands extends from the second floor balcony rail all the way to the floor. We have never had one come off unintentionally.

We bought BitBelts, and I'm glad we did! DH has big wrists and noticed several times during our trip that the BitBelt saved him from losing his MB. With DD (4 at the time), we took the gray part off the MB to help it fit her tiny wrists better, but that almost made it too hard for the MB to close (the band part wasn't as flexible being shorter) ... so the BitBelt gave me reassurance for her. As someone said above, they were well worth the money and peace of mind knowing we wouldn't have to stop mid-trip to have a MB replaced.

I'm a pretty clumsy person and I nearly lost mine twice in the same trip! Once on RnRC and the other at Everest. Maybe I didn't have it clasped tight enough or something because it nearly dropped onto the track area as I was exiting the car on both rides.

I have never lost a Magic Band but I will always use a slider for peace of mind. I have 2 (one from a special say at AKL and one when we got Annual Passes this year). I wear both at the same time - I love the way they look.

I've had many magic bands, and never had any issues with them falling off. I have small wrists, so take off the large part off.

If your band gets lost and you're staying at a Disney resort, they can replace it anyway.

I bought bitbelt a off amazon and they worked great and were not noticeable at all.

We had no issues previous trips w my kids and mine but I wanted to be safe as husband's magic band was lost in the parks. This year it fell off again (no bitbelt) but we found it right away.

They aren't expensive so I would suggest them for sure.

The little charm thingies however no way! They pop right off.

I lost a magic band while at Epcot. I assume it was when I was carrying my daughter. Thankfully a CM found it and I was able to get it back. People will say they never lost it before but the bottom line is it possible.
