Magic Band questions

We have magic bands from two years ago (got different colors for each family member) and was wondering if they would work for a trip coming this year?

We are planning to buy Annual Passes so we can use them for this years and next year's trip.
Do you get magic bands as part of buying an annual pass at the parks?
Or does it need to be purchased separately?

2. You can get NEW MB's free when you get AP's.
If you want the new AP MBs for use DURING your first trip using the new APs,
you need to go to MK's Liberty Square Ticket Office and pick out your MBs there.

If you use the old bands remember:
they are assigned to an individual. Another person cannot use your old MB to get into the park. You can use your old MBs or new MB or alternate as you wish.
The batteries last about 2 years. While it will work to for park entry and purchasing, it may not trigger for photopass photos as this needs the battery and park entry/purchasing does not.

we just assigned our AP's to our each of us in DME.....we each have several magik bands......so each "active" band has the AP on it. things are not assigned to a specific band.

The hierarchy goes like this...

MDE account > user > band > ticket

as long as you have not deactivated and previous free or purchased bands. they are all active with whatever entitlement you you

to add on and clarify....anything where a magic band reader is not held up to the band wont work when the batteries die. photo pass photographers who tap you band will work fine. ride photos that get automagically added to you MDE account will not.
