First I apologize because I'm sure these questions have been asked before. We go to Disney about twice a year but this is the first time we've received the Magic Bands. A few questions if you don't mind. :goodvibes

1. Are Magic Bands the universal way now, or is still just some people?

2. It says I can pick 3 FP+ options per day. Can you do this in addition to the regular FP system or is one or the other?

3. 4 out of the 5 of us have AP. I've already linked them. Would it be easier to buy the 5th person tickets before we go so I can link them?

4. My son qualifies for a DAS. Can we use this in addition to the FP/FP+?

Thanks so much! :thumbsup2

1. Up until now, only for guests at WDW resorts, but that is changing a bit this month with some selected tests for off-site guests.

2. That's changing too. There will be no "regular FP system" at all 4 parks likely within a month, or so.
It has already been eliminated at DAK and MK. At Epcot and DHS, under certain conditions it is possible to get
"regular FP" by some guests who also get FP+... but, again, this is complex, and going away.

3. That's a good plan. Order tickets as "Will Call" (pick up at WDW) and input the ticket confirmation number to your/their MDE account.

4. Completely separate things.

ROBO, I am so nervous about using the magic bands. Nothing I can pinpoint specific, it's out of my touring plan comfort zone. :rotfl:

I read dozens and dozens of reports.

There are many guests who have virtually no problems with the bands,
and others who experience problem-after-problem.

You shouldn't "worry" about the bands, but it is wise to "be aware" that you may need to
spend some time getting the bands to work correctly.

Just to keep things as clear as possible-

There is no reservation info, or ticket info, or credit card info,
or FP+ info "put onto" a MagicBand.

The MagicBands just contain a unique serial number that is used
to access the information that is stored in your MyDisneyExperience computer file.

So, even if you were to lose a MagicBand, the info stays locked in your file.
Disney can just set up a new band (different serial number)
to access the info in your MDE file.

The MagicBand works like the combination to a locked safe, a key to a locked door.

The MB, itself, is not the file of info or the container of the info.
The MB just unlocks the file of info to be read, when needed.

I know there is only a one-size -fits-all band. But, has anyone really large tried one on?? My husband is a big guy with big wrists. Does anyone know how I can find out just how large the band can get? I don't want any surprises when he tries to put it on.

To BYC: I am not really sure how big your husband's wrists are. With the Magic Bands, there is an inside area that you can peel out if you have small wrists, for children. I am a small adult, and I could probably wear just the smaller inside band, but, I don't, because I like having it loose so I don't get hot. There is probably about 4-5 inches that it will extend beyond that, so, about 10-11 inches.

To OP: Have you already used the DAS? My husband's cousin's son has autism. She finds the new system not very helpful, sort of like waiting in line twice. As she explains it, if you have the DAS, you need to go to whatever attraction you want to ride, and they will give you a time to come back that corresponds to the time posted for stand by. When you come back, you will enter the fast pass line. So, it's sort of like having a fast pass. If you have fast pass +, you can use that also, if you have DAS. We were there in December, an some of the fast pass lines were quite long. Even the standby line for Muppets at Hollywood studios was long, longer than I have ever seen it. Most typically, in my experience, Muppets has been a walk on type of attraction, with no wait at all. So, to use an example, if the posted standby time for TSM is 120 minutes, using the DAS, you would be told to come back in 120 minutes or so. Then you would enter the fast pass line, and might wait another 30 min or so to ride.

9" round when snapped on the last hole. The band doesn't need to be worn though so if it is not big enough just have him snap it onto some thing else.

Thank you everyone for your answers! Very helpful!

I'm still not clear on one thing though. Since they are getting rid of paper FP does that mean you can't get anymore with your band? So is 3 FP with the new FP+ all you can get for the day? Thanks! :thumbsup2

Can't get paper fps with a band anyway. You need a standard key card or ticket to do that.

when can you start to reserve fastpasses? Is it like dining (180 days) or closer to travel date?
