Magic band question!

Can just one member of the group have a magic band, or does everybody need to have one?

No one is required to have a magic band. So yes, one member can have one and no one else, or no one can have one. That said, if one person has a magic band and the rest of the group doesn't, then you'll still have to have phones open to scan tickets and LLs, so its less of a timesaver in that respect.

MagicBand+ links to an individual Disneyland ticket, so those without would still need to scan in with their app or paper ticket.

If that's the way you want to do things, then I think you are better off using your phone and scanning everyone in from the app.
