magic band question

I have magic bands from a trip that was cancelled because of the pandemic. They are still in their boxes and have never been activated. They will be 2 years, 1 month old when we go to Disney. Can I still use them. What if the batter dies while we are there?

It will be fine for tapping in to the parks, rides and your room.

The battery only matters for long range functions like ride photos but even those should be ok. Disney says they last 2 years but most people say they work for 3 or more.

First did you get them as part of a room or package?
If so then they should show as active in your MDE.
If you purchased them separately from ShopDisney and they have a code on the underside of them then you'd need to activate them.
Either way they will always work for touch points but the long range battery that would work with non touch points may or may not work.
But for the essentials it will always work.
