Magic band/payment questions

I suspect this thread is in the wrong place, for which I do apologize! We're doing a split stay - 2 nights onsite, 3 nights off site at one of the partner resorts. We've never stayed off site before, ever. We're accustomed to charging things to our magic band, and going to the front desk before we check out to pay off (or pay a large portion of) the balance with Disney gift cards.

So. Questions ;) Do you actually charge to your magic band? I don't think so, as I don't believe there's a magic band "account", more that it's a vehicle for charging to your room... yes?

So. This year. We'll do that before we check out of resort 1.
But then when we check in to resort 2 - can we no longer use our magic band to pay for things? (Since we're now off property.) Does it matter that it's a partner resort? (Sorry if I'm using the wrong term.) If not then I suppose we can just carry our gift cards with us and use as a credit card...

Related - can Disney gift cards be used at Disney Springs restaurants? On one hand I think yes, because I know I could use my magic band to pay... on the other hand I think no, because they're not Disney-owned. (The bummer if no would be that I might have bought too many gift cards, lol!)

Thanks for any insight you can provide!

you put a credit/debit card on file via online check in or in person. you charge back to your room using your magicband. the night before you check out, the charges will post to your card on file.

you will not be able to charge with the magicband after you check out.

Disney gift cards can be used at most if not all restaurants in Disney Springs. You can use your magicband to pay as long as you are a resort guest.

You are correct, you aren't able to charge your in park/Disney springs purchases to your off property folio.

I think a good rule of thumb is if it takes the DDP or allows room charging than it does accept Disney gift cards.

I think you're referring to the good neighbor properties. You are correct, at resort 2 even if it's a good neighbor resort, you cannot charge to your room since you are now off site and not using your magic bands for your stay. Yes, we use our gift cards for our trips and we use them (too many time $$) at disney springs!!

You all are SUPER helpful - thank you! The coutdown is on, and it's so great to get my head around things!
