Magic band is missing charges

All the FP+ grumblings aside, I can honestly say that I liked having the magic bands! It was nice to be able to quickly pay for everything without having to dig into my bag for my CC. It was fast and easy. I also liked that I could wear the MB at the water park and easily charge our lunch without having to run and get a CC. Very nice feature and we didn't have any trouble using them.

The scary thing is that is seems so easy to just buy, buy, buy! And getting an invoice from Disney is not that simple. I was told after we checked out of the hotel I'd get one via email. I didn't. I contacted guest services/billings dept and it took them 8 days to sent it to me. The charges had hit my CC in 3 chuncks and I had no idea what they were.

The itemized listing in the email was great -- tells you what location (which park), what store, and the date. Very handy! However, I was suprised to see that one of my charges is completely missing. Dinner at Harbor House MK -- not on the list at all. And one of my charges is the wrong amount! Lunch at the Sunshine Seasons in Epcot for $7 -- Our lunch was probably at least twice that.

Anyone else finding that the magic band is not quite accurate?! I'm glad to say I didn't see any extra charges, but I have to wonder what happened to my HArbor House bill -- did it end up on someone else's magic band?!?!

I noticed that in November...the room charges were a mess and I had to ask for an invoice.

In contrast, in February, the room charges from Portofino were so easy to read and the email came the same day of checkout like clockwork.

Do they not hang the little tag on the door anymore????

I always got a tag hanging on my door with all of my charges itemized.

I like getting up in the morning to go the busses, see all who are checking out, and then compare the size/thickness of the envelopes.

For numerous reasons, I save all my receipts and reconcile once every day or two. The wife and I both have charging privileges so we bring a coupon book and instead of filing coupons alphabetically, we file receipts chronologically.

Not only does it help us keep track with what is on our MB, it helps us track our spending for past and future trips and the main reason we were able to drop the DDP with NO hesitation whatsover.

It takes a little time and effort, but Disney counts on people no tracking their spending, thats a major reason they want MBs. Anyone who goes on a budget (regardless of what that budget is), should track their spending to some degree.

This is a great idea. Thanks

No invoice hanging on our door. And I even called the front desk. She told me it would be emailed to me. Well, it wasn't. Not sure if that's because I booked my room through travelocity and it was all paid in advance, or what.

As far as spending, it's interesting and kind of fun to see it all itemized. I don't think we spent more than usual because it was 95% on food. One has to eat!

But the missing charges are a curiosity. I wonder if they will be found and appear on my CC in the weeks to come. They are small potatoes, only about $15 for the missed meal, but still. A bug in their fancy new system!

We always had an invoice on our door and I liked getting the sticker shock over at that moment. I don't like the idea of waiting days to find out how much monesy we blew thru!

I found this out the hard way but hopefully they have fixed it. I know that they say any charge would require a pin but it doesn't. My son purchased 8-10 $25.00 video game cards without any problems. I went to the front desk and explained what happened and they did say that they were all learning the system still and that would have to be told to all as game cards and purchases less than $25.00? didn't require a pin.

Never got a charge for the game cards and the no-charging was placed on all MickeyBands quickly.

LOVE this idea of taking a coupon book for file those receipts every day. Thanks for the tip! :thumbsup2

We always go to the front desk every couple of days to check charges and then we have them send through the charges. We will be doing the same this trip with the magic bands.

This is absolutely what we will be doing. We're going for 11 days and will have 4 people charging. I want to make sure everything is correct every couple of days, and while we're still there, not 11 days at a time after I get home! :crazy2:

LSUfan4444 - GREAT idea for keeping organized, thanks so much! :thumbsup2

I do it the worry free way...I use cash! ;) Too afraid that it would be too darn easy to spend without seeing it disappear. Good luck with your receipts.

Yeah when we had the kttw card I just checked in at front desk every 2 nights and they have me print out.
I can see how it will be easy to spend. I'm giving my 11 year old charging privlages. Should be exciting. If course I'll be with her

We had the other side happen. We ate at Narcossee's at 5:30 and used 4 credits from DDP by way of the MB. Next night when we went out to eat the server told me how many credits I had and I knew something was wrong. I checked at the front desk, and we had been charged 4 credits at 7:30 and 4 credits at 10pm. They credited us back the second 4, but I would have never known if it wasn't a substantial difference. Now, I keep track. Wonder if the people who ate after us got a free meal?

No more envelope hanging on your door the day you check out - it is all electronic now.

I always go to the front desk and ask for a print out the night before check out so that I have time to fix anything that is wrong. On our trip a couple of weeks ago, the front desk did not want to provide the printout - they just told me to check my email. After I insisted, she printed it out for me.

As far as the missing charges - you may get some pixie dust. But, if Disney does figure it out later on, they will charge your credit card.

I always bring stuff to do that (I generally travel with my Passporter "passpockets" partially to file my receipts) but halfway through the trip I lose the "oomph" and will to do that. And DH has a tendency to flat out lose receipts (where do they go?). Frustrating.

For the future, pressing the "front desk" button sends you to an offsite, likely out of state, call center. Next time, walk to the front desk and have them print it out for you. "Front Desk" by phone will not be able to do this for you.

I wish they had an option to view the charges on the app or on the TV like cruises let you do.

That's an awesome idea. Totally borrowing that for October!
