what dose everyone think about the new design i like them from the pictures i have seen and i hope we get them for our January trip

With what i have been reading the old one will still work in till the battery inside the old dies same tecnogy but in a removable puck so it should still work at least that's what i have seen but that's only my opinion i have several of the old styles that have favorite caratures on them and would still like to use them still although i do like the new style With the removable puck and being able to use a lane yard or keychain i do think the size of the band is a bit large where the puck goes i will prob get a lanyard for it for myself but I want to see them in person to decide for myslelf ti see the size

From what I've read on here, once the new ones come out, the old ones will be phased out. They are supposed to start providing the new designs to resort guests in January. If you already have some of the old design and prefer those, you can continue to use them. They will work at the touchpoints (park entry, payment, FP+, et.c) pretty much forever. Those functions do not require the long range RF that operates on battery, so they will still work even after the battery has died. The only things that will stop working after the battery has died are the functions that require long range RF, such as ride photos and the interactive features on Haunted Mansion, Small World, and whatever else has some kind of display that pulls info from your account for attraction customization. For ride photos, many of the older rides still have touchpoints that you can use to add your ride photos at the end of the ride. However, Seven Dwarfs Mine Train and Frozen Ever After do not have touch points, so if your battery has died you will not be able to get those ride photos. I believe you will also miss out on the ride video for Tower of Terror.

A thought on this, if you have an old one that the battery has died in and you still want to use it you can just stick your new band in your bag or pocket so the long range still works and use the old one you love for touch points.
The "puck" in the new bands will be perfect for this, zip it into an interior pocket of your bag or put it on a keychain.

never thought about that also if you have a backpack get a carabeaner clip and clip it to the zippers pulls with the keychain

We arrive 1/29, but the MB ship on 12/29, so I'm thinking we'll be getting the old bands? I was thinking of ordering those "skins" but now I don't know what band we will get. Guess we'll just use nail polish or modgepodge to decorate them

I'm wondering the same thing. I have "skins" in my Etsy cart waiting to be ordered. How will we know which ones we will be getting We arrive 1/19

We arrive 12/28 and my MBs arrived today 12/3, we did receive original MBs. I am hoping for MB 2.0 for our February 3rd trip.

i was thinking lanyard its nice having it on your band but for staying at the resort it was hard for me using it as a key i think the lanyard would be better for me

Since our arrival date is 1/4, I would think we will be getting them any time now, so gosh I hope we get the old ones - which for us will be "new" since we haven't even gone to WDW since the whole Magic band thing started! I don't know how I feel about the little puck thingy.
