Magic as Wide as a smile!10/28 Trip Report Link!!!!

I thought about starting the report on Saturday the 9th, the day we actually left, but the trip really started on Friday the 8th, for some of us at least.

Friday morning I got my very excited kiddos up and ready for school! They went off to school happy to know that I was going to pick them up a few minutes early to avoid the usual dismissal time pandemonium at their school.

I sighed a huge sigh of relief when they were out the door without finding out their cousins would be arriving while they were at school. If they had found out getting them off to school that morning would have been nightmarish!

I got Ryan, DS2, up and dressed and he and I finished up some last minute things around the house. Then it was time for him to go visit Grandma for a little bit so I could get a pre-trip mani/pedi! Yippeee!

I had a nice, quiet, relaxing time at the nail salon but it was soon over and I headed to the grocery store!

Supplies for lunch were procured and I was soon getting Ryan from Grandma, who gave him extra hugs and kisses to hold them both over during the trip, and headed home!

My sis, BIL and the kids were headed over from CT via the ferry and due to arrive at my house around 1!!

Right on time they pulled in the driveway!!

WOW! Excitement was in the air!!

This trip was a long time coming for my nieces and nephew! I don’t think they could have been more excited about it!!

We had lunch and chatted about the plans for the trip, rides, meals etc and soon it was time to head off to get DD and DS7 at school!

They were super excited to see their cousins, who had gone for the ride to the school with me!

The rest of the evening was filled with all sorts of excitement and fun! Pizza for dinner and early bedtime and we found ourselves dreaming of Disney with mere hours until we were actually there!

My alarm was set for 3:45 and the coffee maker was set for 3:30, this girl needs her caffeine especially at that hour of the morning!

But, around 3 a little voice was telling me she was awake and too excited to go back to sleep. Ahhh, DD, the human alarm clock! :lmao: She’s been like this for years. In fact, she woke me up the morning of her preschool graduation at 4:30 am by screaming (literally) in my ear that we were going to be late :headache: :lmao:

I told her to go back to bed quietly so she didn’t wake her cousins, who were sleeping in her room. I laid there for a few more minutes thinking about getting up but not wanting to wake anyone.

5 minutes later the little human alarm clock was back at my bedside! Going back to bed wasn’t working and her cousins were awake too! UGH!

Ok, they win! I got up and found the girls whispering in DD’s room. I apologized to them for DD waking them. But apparently I didn’t need to! They had been awake for quiet sometime, I’m not sure they slept at all, and had been whispering. They figured they had woke DD, not the other way around!

In the next room the same thing was occurring! DS and my nephew were whispering too! UGH! Don’t these kids know what time it is?! Don’t they know they need sleep before a WDW vacation?!

Soon everyone in the house was awake and everyone got ready quickly with the buzz of excitement in the air!

We were actually out the door before 5:15, which was our set time to leave!

Soon we found ourselves at the airport doing curbside check-in in the freezing cold!! The big kids took the little kids inside to keep warm, both DH’s parked the cars and sis and I checked the bags.

Next stop, security! One of the reasons we fly from our small, local airport is that it isn’t crowded and going through security is usually a breeze. Today it was a little different because of a TSA security screener who apparently got up on the wrong side of the bad.

He was sooooo nasty to us!! He thought we were taking too long. We had 10 people, 6 of which were kids. 1 of the kids was a toddler, 2 of the kids had never flown before. We each of the grownups had carry-on, as well as the teenagers. We had a stroller and a laptop, 10 jackets and 10 pairs of shoes! I’d really like to know what his issue was. He kept telling us to “move along” and “hurry up.” Ummm, there was no one on line behind us and 5 other tables! Give me a break!!! It took a lot not to say something to him! He was not a magical way to start out!

Once through security we quickly settled in at the gate, sis and I went off to buy magazines, water and a newspaper. We ate breakfast our breakfast of bagels and PBJ sandwiches, which I had prepared the night before.

As the sun started to rise the kids noticed something magical! Our plane had been sitting at the gate from the night before and with a little light you could see Tinkerbell on the side of the plane!!! Very cool! I couldn’t get a good picture of it in the low light through the window :guilty:

We hung at the gate for a little bit

waiting for the plane, DN Jule is the one in the blue, doesn't she look happy I was taking pictures? :lmao:

DS7, Johnny, happy and ready for Disney

And then it was time to board the plane! Off we go...

Yay!! We are on the plane.

I feel the same way as your DD. I can't sleep the night before a trip no matter what. It just doesn't happen.

Oy what an early start! :scared: Such a cheery security guy. Get that man a coffee! Woo-hoo... you're off!

That is such and early start! Wow, I hope the kids nap on the plane :)

Cranky TSA people are no fun....

You're on your way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

:rotfl: oh boy....do the kids totally crash out on the plane?! Which really, isn't such a bad thing...;)

What a grouch of a TSA guard! What was his deal?! Perhaps he has no idea what it is like to fly with kids!

I'm so excited that your trip was full of magic, I can't wait to hear about it all! :hyper: :yay:

Definitely very cool! :tink:

Well I have nothing better to do on a Saturday morning:lmao:

:rotfl: Sometimes that's the best way to start the weekend!

Yay!! We are on the plane.

I feel the same way as your DD. I can't sleep the night before a trip no matter what. It just doesn't happen.

I was very happy for the sleep I got!! We've gotten much better about sleeping before a trip around here but with the cousins in the house that went out the window!

Oy what an early start! :scared: Such a cheery security guy. Get that man a coffee! Woo-hoo... you're off!

It was incredibly early! But everyone was so hyped up there was no problem getting them moving!

That TSA guy was just not nice! Meany! It took a lot not say anything! I figured getting arrested by TSA wasn't a good way to start the trip though!

HAHA! I can never sleep the night before Disney! Can't wait to read more!

We've gotten much better about that around here! I hate feeling like I'm going to fall over by the end of the day on the first day!

That is such and early start! Wow, I hope the kids nap on the plane :)

Cranky TSA people are no fun....

You're on your way!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

It was sooo early!!! Napping! :lmao: Some of us were still to excited to even sleep on the plane!

That TSA guy was no fun at all!

Some of the kids were still too excited on the plane ;) Napping was just not in the cards for certain people!

That TSA guy was just a jerk! He must not have any clue about flying with kids! I could have done without him!!

More to come soon!

Definitely very cool! :tink:

Kathy

It was so cool!! It was right on the side by the front of the plane, I think it was an advertisement for the new Tinkerbell movie that just came out on DVD!

The one thing I can do is sleep before a trip. It's by one big vacationing talent. :lmao:

That is a great talent! We've gotten better about it! With the cousins in the house I think my kids were even more excited then normal!

:rotfl: I wonder if one could refine this as a skill? I need it!

I definitely think it's a talent one could work on refining! Like I said, we've gotten better over the years. Thankfully!

I'm in! We were there the week before Xmas, and BOY was it C-O-L-D, too! Our next trip is scheduled for Xmas, too and staying at BCV, so far!:goodvibes BTW, we are neighbors, too!!!

Thanks for joining in!! It was way to cold while we were there!

I'm not sure where we're going to in Dec, but it's killing me not to have a reservation yet!

BTW, Hi neighbor!!

Sorry this is taking so long! Lots to do around here lately, not mention my ever present sinus infection!

I'm also terribly behind on my subscriptions again! Sorry to all of you whose PTR/TR I'm on! I'm going to try to get caught up again this weekend!

So we left off with us on the plane! Yippeee!!!!! We’re on our way!

Some of you mentioned crashing on the plane after getting up so early. Well, some of us yes, some of us no!

Ryan slept for a little while. Those of you who have known me for a little bit know I’m really thankful for that! In October he was not very happy about the sitting in one seat for 2 and half hours! In fact, toward the end of the flight I thought about asking the stewardess for a parachute ;)

He was also good for the part of the flight he was awake for!!! Ahhh! Thank God!!!

DH and DS7 slept because they both get motion sick and take Dramamine before the flight. Everyone else kinda dowsed off and on! It was all good though!

After an uneventful flight we landed about 10 minutes late due to strong head winds! As we taxied to the gate the pilot welcomed us to Orlando and informed it was “a balmy 35 degrees with a 15 mph windy out of the southeast” UGH! Everyone on the plane moaned!

We were soon off to Magical Express!

I had my ME book in my handy dandy WDW binder and whipped it out! We strolled down the read carpet into our line!

It was then that I learned the first of many new things about my sister’s family! My niece, Jule, is the world’s most impatient person! We were standing there for all of 2 minutes when she asked how long it normally takes! Oh boy! This is the 12 year old Black Belt! Don’t they learn patience at karate?!

I tried to explain that it may be another minute or 2 or it may be another 20 or 30. I hoped it wasn’t the later of the 2!

Luckily we only waited 10 minutes and were soon on the bus and headed to the resort!!

First stop was Coronado Springs, which looked very nice!! Maybe we’ll have to stay there for a few non-DVC days, especially after seeing all of Brookelizabeth’s beautiful pictures of the resort!

Then we were off to Kidani!!!

Yippeee!!

Sooo beautiful!!!!! The lobby was mobbed!!! Not a lot of people checking in but a whole lot of people milling around the lobby, a lot at the concierges desk and a lot in the seating areas! I actually didn’t take any pictures of the lobby then because it was so crowded!

We checked in with no problem and a little bit of pixie dust! A very nice bell service CM gave Ryan a little Safari Mickey figure that he’s still carrying around!!!

Another little of pixie dust, our room was ready and it was barely noon!! Woo hooo!!!

Room 7258 here we come!!

I know I’m not the first to say this and I know I’m not going to be the last but our room was in China from the lobby!!! I kid you not!! It was at least a quarter mile walk, probably more! We were actually closer to Jambo House then we were to the lobby of Kidani, I think! All week long I wondered why I could see more building around the bend from our balcony! Umm yeah, Jambo House! I didn’t realize it was so close!

Our room was lovely!!! So beautiful!! Even more beautiful then I remember the model being during our DVC tour! Ahhh!! This is definitely home!!!

I tried to take lots of pictures, my best efforts aren’t that great though! With 9 other people in the room, 6 of which were following me (the kids) asking when we were going to go the parks I could get that much done!

Here's what I have ;)
