Magic 11/20/04 Thanksgiving Cruisers?

Here's an update from another tReceived this today.

Hurricane Ivan scored a near direct hit on Grand Cayman back on September 12, damaging most homes and businesses, knocking out power and phones, contaminating water and fuel supplies and bringing tourism--vital to the island's economy--to a complete halt. For a while, four feet of water covered the entire width of the island at famous Seven Mile Beach, and Grand Cayman was actually two islands. If you've ever flown into Grand Cayman, you may be able to visualize the airport area covered by the sea, waves rolling down the runway. It was indeed a terrifying and traumatic experience for every resident.

I'm happy to report that while repairs and reconstruction are ongoing, conditions have improved sufficiently to allow cruise lines to return. The Grand Cayman Port Authority will allow up to two ships per day to call for the first week of November, gradually increasing thereafter, and has released an official schedule of port calls for November 1-13.

Grand Cayman is one of the most popular cruise destinations in the world, and both cruise passengers and Caymanians are anxious to see port calls resume. There is no word yet as to which shore excursions will be available on these early cruises, but the island's shops and main attractions are coming back online. The world-famous reefs are intact, with most coral in excellent shape and plenty of sea life, though some sport a new look due to shifted sand. Both Stingray City locations--the shallow sandbar area where it is possible to stand and the deeper area--were unaffected, and stingrays still troll the clear water looking for tourists and their squid handouts. The Turtle Farm sustained minor damage, but no turtles were hurt. And Seven Mile Beach is in great shape and actually gained sand in some places.

It will take many months to repair the more than $1 billion in damage, and the defoliated island will have a different look for awhile, but the first cruise passengers setting foot on shore there this week will be warmly welcomed, I am certain.

P.S. We just booked the Capt Marvin all day snorkel trip at GC.
We will be heading to Paradise Beach to just relax at Cozumel. I read about it on cruise critic.com boards. Looks like a great place. Has an ice berg thing to climb and slide, water tramp, restaurant, bar, with chairside service. Cheap massages. Maybe I'll try again.

So far we have booked the buy one get one at CC and the Catamaran beach party (are you surprised?) snorkle adventure at cozumel........we've been informed by another on of our neighbors that they have 4 "extra" places on an all inclusive trip to cozumel in March (spring break):cool1: :cool1: :cool1: :cool1:

Tbert,

You'll love the Fury Catermeran.

Wille, we're also planning on Paradise Beach instead of the Dune Buggies. I've heard so many good things about it. Does anyone know if they have hair braiders there? We went past it on the Fury Catermeran and it looked awesome.

Do we need to worry about ICE in our drinks on the Fury Cat? Didn't know if magaritas are blended or on the rocks?:drinking:

Doogierunner- Yeah, that was how we saw PB. We did Fury last December. They advertise on their website as having hair braiding. Looks kie a great place to chill.

Tbert5- If I remember correctly, the maragritas are not frozen, but were very cold. Not over ice, but it was not a problem. They keep them coming so fast you have to drink them fast! The beer was also very cold(Superior Beer). The Fury was the highlight of our Carnival cruise. You will love it.

Do Yall realize that we only have 2 weeks and 2 days until we are PARRRRTTTTYINNG with the MICKSTER??:cool1: :drinking1 :rockband:

You may be parasailing with DW, Kelli that day. She has seen the parasailing at WDW, and always wanted to do it. But she has a husband that has a problem with heights. So, I have always sort of discouraged her. But this time she was having none of that! I guess if she is ok with me going deep under the sea, I should be ok with her going up high over it!

OK, maybe I have talked enough on these boards! You guys now know that I have a problem with getting a massage from a dude, AND that I have a fear of heights! And when you meet me on the cruise, you will think I have a drinking problem! LOL! At least I will be trying my best to give you that impression! :teeth:

The DIS Brunch is coming along well. We are up to 17 now. I still need some info from a few of you guys before we sail. (Name and cabin number) Email is WMILLER86@aol.com

This will be THE BEST Magic cruise !

My wife has discovered who our children are.(She knew this when we got married)

While life at Fourty does seem to go fast, Sleep, Work, Kids Events, Sleep.....in the neverending pattern that it takes.
The hours turn into days, days turn into weeks and weeks turn into months. ETC.

I am the one who is saying around the house:
"I CAN"T WAIT TO SEE MICKEY!"

So can anyone tell me (an adult, mind you) that:
Why is it taking so long to get to November 20th!???

:p :bounce:  :earseek: :hyper: :boat: :jumping1:

We finally got our Docs. Woo Hoo! But I have a question about filling the paperwork out.

1) Do you have to fill out credit card info on the children?
2) There is a statement about filling out information on Bahama immigration, Where is that form?
3)Did anyone get the REAS package? If so, have you been called?

Thanks a million

Babysharknc,

We are doing the REAS, and I called a month or so ago and made my reservations for massages and Palo dinner and Palo Brunch. That is where the DIS meet of Monday 11:00 originated. That is when I scheduled my brunch, and I plan to add to it when I board. You can call now and make reservations. You can add your name to the DIS brunch by telling them to reference the ressie for William Miller.
They were really helpful.

Two weeks from today we will be driving to New Orleans, then getting on a plane to Orlando. . . that would be 14 days. . . that would be 336 hours. . . that would be 20,160 minutes..

Wait, lets go back to 2 weeks--it sounds better than 20,160 minutes:sunny:

IT IS ALMOST TIME FOR:space:
