Maelstrom

Maelstrom is a fun and magical Disney attraction that takes you back to Norway during the time of the Vikings. You really feel as if you're there, in the cold mountains, surrounded my trolls as you float along in your "ship".

Maelstrom is a great ride, and I highly recommend experiencing it at least once :goodvibes.

Maelstrom's drop is smaller than POTC. The thrill feeling is minimal. But fun!
Check out 3:58 of this video for the drop

The mexico ride, The Grand Fiesta Tour is like IASW. Extremely tame. A nice relaxing ride

Somehow I missed the WS rides on both of our previous trips. I don't know what happened! Maybe I was too tired to look thoroughly enough to find them. I'm making a mental note to make sure we get to them next trip.

We rode it for the first time last trip. Loved it, can't wait to go again. It did have a long wait though.

The day I have to bribe my children to go through the World Showcase is the last day they get to come with me!

As has already been stated...THIS!!!

However, we would be nice enough to take them to Chuck-E-Cheese the night before dropping them off at Grandma and Grandpa's house on our way to WDW!!!:thumbsup2

A wonderful ride!

The drop during the ride could not frighten anyone.

I find the fishing village scene at the end of the ride to be very tranquil. Do not bypass the movie after the ride as many people do. The movie is not to be missed!

Maelstrom is one of those charming "little" rides that makes WDW special!!Theres a giant bear too!!

I gotta admit when we first went on it 8 years ago and the boat turned backwards and that little door opened up...I thought something was wrong with the ride and we were going pile out into the courtyard! :scared1: DW has never let me live that down! :)

By the way, look at my ticker...I'm in the home stretch!! :yay:

When I was little I always thought the ship was gonna fall out the window! :rotfl2: It is a really fun ride, it doesn't have any thrilling parts in my opinion, the "drop" is almost non-existent and it doesn't even go fast, but the setting is pretty cool and overall it's a fun ride to do.

I want to ride it when we go in September. Do you get wet though on Maelstrom or the other one in Mexico? I'd prefer to stay dry...

The Maelstrom is one of my very favorite rides. I remember the first time we discovered it we had no idea the front of the boat was hanging out of a hole in the Norway pavilion. It wasn't until we exited the ride and got outside that we saw. My mom and I looked at each other and said, "Let's do it again!" We probably rode it three times in a row that day!

I was always under the impression that Maelstrom was one of the most popular rides in Epcot.

It is a great experience, although it feels like its all of about 45 seconds long.

There is a movie afterwards, but a warning to parents with kids who don't like loud noises--my son who is on the autism spectrum freaked out at the movie because of the volume. The film jumps around scenes of Norway but every few seconds keeps coming back to an oil rig with some extremely LOUD noises. We had to walk out of the theatre. I believe that is the ONLY time we've ever had to leave a film because of the volume/noise.

Wow! Thanks everyone for your responses... it seems like a must see next time we are at Epcot. What is the movie at the end of the ride about?

A beautifully done five minute movie showing scenes about life in Norway past and present.

Rode it last night. We like the ride. Unfortunately, someone in line in front of us threw up all over the wall and floor. Made for an unpleasant wait in line.
