We went in October 2003 and took ds, then 11 months, on the Maelstrom. Did we slip past accidently or is the height restriction a new thing? I'm confused. :confused3

I don't ever recall a height restriction on Maelstrom...

One website that lists height restrictions (I think it's allearsnet) says there's an age restriction. 3+ not height, age. I thought it was strange, myself.

I took my DS when he was a baby.I had never heard of a height restriction. The drop really isn't big at all.I would be shocked if they switched it.

Hmmm, that's interesting. Allearsnet does say "Minimum age 3 to ride; Guests with health restrictions and expectant mothers may wish to bypass the ride." However I have taken my ds on this more than once and no one ever said a thing. I don't think it's a rough ride at all, no worse than POTC pirate: , Which btw, Allearsnet says about that "Must be at least 35" tall to ride
For safety and comfort, you should be in good health and free from heart, back, or neck problems, motion sickness, or other conditions that could be aggravated by this adventure. Expectant mothers should not ride." So I'm not sure where Allearsnet is getting this info! :confused3 DS has been on POTC more than once too, and I've never heard of anyone with a baby being turned away from it.

Anyway, I wouldn't worry about it. I think Allearsnet has the wrong info. I'll guess we'll find out in a couple of days! :) When we get back I'll let ya know.

Thanks everyone. I thought that was strange. :confused3

I missed the part about POTC! We took ds on it, too, when he was 11 months. Weird.

All4fun, what a cutie you've got there! I love his name, too. :)

I also read that on Allearsnet, and was fully expecting my kids to not be able to ride. But, we took my 2yr old at the time (2002) with no problems, and last year we took my now 2yr old son, when he was 8 months, 13 months, and 18 months with no problems at all! So no worries, either its wrong info, or they don't enforce it ever! :wave2:

I would go by the office Disney site. I cannot recall seeing any age restrictions there, only height restrictions.

I took my 2 and a half year old DD on Maelstrom in January and saw neither height nor age restrictions posted. My DD loved it and still talks about the trolls.

I have ridden POTC, but not Maelstrom. I did not have any qualms about riding POTC(I will be 6.5 months pg at our trip), but I was wondering about Maelstrom. Does anyone see any reason that an expectant mother should not ride??

If it is a small drop like PiratesOTC, then I won't be experiencing the G forces. I don't ever recall the drop being enough to make you hit the front of the boats or anything.

We took a 16 month old and 5 month old on it no problem. We knew were the drops were and just held them tight. No big deal and they liked it. 5 month old giggled and kept flapping her hands in excitment. They both even made it through the movie, better then the older kids in our party!
