Being it is our anniversary we decided to go for it and switched from POP to Port Orleans French Quarter.

We like the look of the resort and the fact it is a little smaller.

Holy moley this trip is not going to be cheap. I checked again and still no pin or promotion for us.

I am worried though...when we were looking at changing there is nothing for our dates in standard at Riverside. If a discount happens I hope we can keep our resort and not have to move.

Also a question - We are booked November 10-15th. It looks like the current pin is for the 11th. How big of a hassle is it to have to do a split stay? I don't want it to cause a major disruption on a park day as we already have everything figured out. There would be nothing worse than waiting to do the switch on our park day!

Split stays are cake. We've done one with a 1 year old and are doing another next month with a 2 yr old. All you have to do before you head to a park on checkout day is check your bags in to bell services and tell them what resort your moving to. Then, go to a park! When you're done, whether for a break or for the day, go to your new resort and check in. As long as its after 3 or 4 pm, your bags will be with bell services at your new resort. It's simple!

If we stay at the same resort what are the odds of keeping our same room?

Hubby doesn't like any hassles on vacation and neither do I!;)

I don't want to switch resorts. If we have to switch rooms I can deal.

Hey there seeker,

First congrats, I bet its exciting to have made the switch.

I just wanted to note that in quite a few of the last discounts, French Quarter has been left out. That was the case for the Room only discount in May for our stay, and we switched to Riverside.

Even if you had to book garden view or pool view at RS with a discount, it would probably be a better rate then FQ without a discount.

Hopefully a good discount comes out and applies to FQ though :)

Also, I can't imagine it being too bad if the switch is your first day and you HAD to switch rooms, just don't unpack your main bags the first day, and then leave them with bell services on your way to the park, and they would/should be able to drop them off in your new room when its ready.

If you are staying at the same resort, it's what they usually call a 'Continuing Reservation'. You stay in the same room (if it's the same type); they just check you into the new reservation. Depending on the new reservation details / package, you may have to get new KTTW cards or take the ones you have to be updated. But the whole process is usually very smooth. Just explain what you want to the CM when making the call, and tell him/her you want 'Continuing Reservations'.

Thanks everyone! : )

I guess at this point it is just a waiting game.

Yuou will find that very small or no discounts for the POFQ. We used to always stay there, but the reservation CM that I spoke to once said that Disney doesn't need to offer discounts for POFQ because the resort is smaller and there is never any problem filling the rooms. We love the FQ but have been staying at the Coronado Springs Resort lately due to the bigger room discounts. We have come to like CSR almost as much as POFQ. The last time I checked when there was a room only discount it was only 5% at POFQ and 25% at POR & CSR.

We loved it when we upgraded from Pop to POFQ! LOVED the difference! Hope you enjoy your anniversary stay here.

Congrats on switching to a mod!
*Bigger Room
*Boat to DD
*Pool Towels
*Hot Tub
*Smaller resort = less people at bus stop
*More compact resort
*Pool Slide

We think these perks make a mod a great choice over value!
