Made my first offer with Fidelity and it was .... odd

Ok I signed up for listing notification through a few sites and I got an email about new listings with Fidelity. One of the listings was too good to pass up so I went online but the listing hadn't even posted yet. I had to click the link in the email to make an offer but it only asked for my name, email, phone, location preference and offer amount. This may be my first offer but I feel like it should have asked me more. Shouldn't I have specified that I would pay dues, etc? There wasn't even a spot for that. I assume the offer amount was price per point x number of points (it didn't explain). It just seemed a little odd. In either case I am so freaking excited. We were on the fence about where to purchase and how many points to get but there was no question this time. Fingers crossed!

I have had the same experience with their email listings.

I put in an offer, and wanted the seller to pay dues but there wasn't room anywhere for that. I ended up writing an offer per point and once the agent responded to my mail I let,him know about the additional terms.

Regards

I ended up calling them and the listing I wanted apparently sold within minutes of the email blast for $5 over asking. I ended up putting in an offer on another similar listing they had. The guy I spoke with was extremely friendly and helpful. He told me all listings are factoring current dues already paid for by the seller. Now let's keep our fingers crossed this second offer is accepted.

Which one was it? I saw one that looked too good to be true, but then I realized all the current and banked points would expire before we could close.

It was the 50pt Wilderness Lodge for $79/pt. April use year with 100pts current. We got our second offer accepted on a 50pt for $82/pt. April use year with 80points current

Ah. There was (is?) a Vero Beach 150 point December contract for $40, with named 2014 and all 2015 points. But those 300 "current" points will all expire in four months.

I tried on several the minute they were posted but they were snatched up immediately.

Apparently that's what happens. When I called, the guy was extremely friendly and offered some clarity on how their listings work. The loaded small point contracts go within minutes of the email blast for over asking.

That's a bit of a surprise to me. I thought that the April 4 changes would decrease the appetite for those small contracts. Apparently not.

I wondered the same thing-perhaps a lot of the small resale contracts are purchased by current owners who already qualify for the benefits and want to add on for 1/2-2/3 the cost of direct?

It doesn't appear there are a lot of small contracts out there which may be part of what drives the demand so high.

WOW you got a fantastic price! We bought a stripped 25 point contract 18 months ago and paid $93 per point. AND that was a good deal at the time. Way to Go! (and now I want to look at contracts again but DH would kill me )

Yep. Me too.

Do you know how to get on their mailing list?

I'm not sure who you bought through but we had the extra $195 fee by purchasing through fidelity but our closing costs were only $430. The price per point is less but I know other resale sites don't charge the fee. It still ended up being a better price than any others we came across! I would love to get my hands on a 25pt within the next year or so

I have found that once Racheal and Sharon left, the customer service at Fidelity went way down.. and they had that $195 fee.. which effectively raises the price by a few dollars per point.

So far our communications have been excellent so we are happy at this point. Still in the rofr phase but hope it continues to be a pleasant experience.

I was on fidelity a week or so ago and it seemed like their list prices were as much as 10 per point less than other brokers. Figured there had to be a catch, and sounds like that $195 fee is part of it. On a 50 point contract, that's an additional $4 per point.

Sorry to have to agree here. Our recent experiences with Fidelity included a 3-week delayed closing, a 5-week delay in getting paperwork, inflated closing costs (over the given estimates) on 2 contracts, and very little help from Fidelity. Hope OP has better luck with them.
