Made my decision

I was going back & forth as to whether to get the dining plan for my Jan. trip and also whether to get QSDP of Basic DP.

I looked on-line at the 2012 info and saw the basic was going up to $51/day.
I priced out what I might order for QS and it kinda broke even with paying OOP.

So I decided to forego the DDP this trip and pay OOP. I have a TIW card to help with the TS meals.

I just made 3 TS reservations. Wanted Narcoossee's, but there was no availability. May try a walk-up and see what happens. I'm going solo, so only need a table for 1.

I booked LTT, Kona Cafe and Olivia's as my TS meals (figuring how they would fit into my park and race schedule. I'll be there marathon weekend) After that I'm just going to wing it. I want to keep it flexible. If I can get a TS as a walk-up, great. If not, I'll do CS.

I've budgeted $400 for my food for the stay (this includes TS, CS, Snacks and anything to buy to keep in the room). I'm hoping it won't cost that much, but that's what I'll have to work with. (Of course if I get Narcoossee's, that's $100 meal at one shot).

We made the same decision - I do go back and forth, if Cape May is more than $40 per person - then its not such a stretch to see how the DP can be cost effective - Columbia Harbor House for a CS meal with a drink and Dessert will run $15+ I figure - then there is that all important snack credit... :rotfl:

but because we're heading down during the Marathon weekend, and dh is running Goofy, we just wont be able to spend the time eating - so we'll forgo it this trip - - wish we could qualify for the TiW card, that would be sweet!!

so to compensate for not getting the DP I've made reservations at places that dont take the Dining Plan - for our anniversary trip I made a reservation for Bistro de Paris, and Big River Grill - and I think we'll try something at the Swan/Dolphin as well for breakfast! who knows -

Sandy,

I really looked at the menu and tried to be realistic about what I would eat this trip. When I've done the DxDP, I had no problem eating TS meals each day (although sometimes used the 2 credits for Sig. dining spots).

But this trip I'll be doing the Goofy, too, so won't be eating 3 sit-downs per day. Unless I was going to do the buffets (Cape may, Chef Mickey's), it just didn't seem worth it, cost wise, to get it this trip.

Having a meal at Tony's with an app., entree and drink would only be about $30. Getting a CS, even with dessert would be about $15. Add in approx. $3 for snack and I'm still not at the cost for the daily DP rate.

So, I'll just go OOP and enjoy wherever I end up eating in the World!

Tell your husband I said "Happy Training!"
Terri
