5-14 to 5-22
Linda - Arrived on my birthday!
Bob - We're middle aged now!
Weather perfect -- Not hot this week -- Short rain 2 times
Well, it's not a whole quilt, just a wall hanging, and it was well underway before we left home. DH thinks that VACATION means REST
so I knew we would have plenty of down time, but little did I know just how much down time there would be...
Flew to MSP then direct to MCO on Friday 5-14. (Usually go Sat. to Sat., but couldn't find a Sat. direct flight.) I'd really rather be home on my birthday, and I think our kids were disappointed that we left then. Yes, we have 2 Disney-impaired children that we left home. DD21 and DS 19 are too cool for Disney and WAY too cool to travel with us. And this is honestly the first year we have not needed to get them a baby-sitter...
Arrived mid-afternoon and picked up our NEW SMALLER bags. Last year we were overweight (and so was one suitcase) and we had to pay $10 for a cardboard box that we dragged around all week... This year we were short one suitcase, as we both thought the other one was getting it out of the car, and locked and slammed the car doors at the same time.
Took the Hertz shuttle to their OFFSITE AIRPORT location (an oxymoron for sure!) We rented a red mustang just for fun. We returned the first one with a problem; they got defensive about another mix-up of theirs; then they gave us one we later discovered had no washer fluid and a left turn signal that didn't work.
Do I need to mention we won't be renting there again?
DH always wants to drive, but never knows where he is. I like to drive too, but am a better navigator. (See previous sentence.) We went right to Vistana for the week-end. Our week there is any time and always 2BR. It's a beautiful resort, with flowers and fountains everywhere. The units are as nice as Disney's, maybe even nicer, because everyone isn't wanting to take the decorations home for a souvenir, so there are more cloth napkins with rings, plants, pillows, etc.
Relaxed around the resort and worked on the quilt til Monday. DH wasn't feeling well (I think he's had a sinus infection all winter) so we spent much of Mon. at Urgent Care. Thanks to the DIS, we knew right where to go.
Checked in at VWL. I got to drive there! At valet parking, the guy was so excited to take our little Mustang, that he started off with some of our luggage!
It's beautiful there, except it looks like our own back yard. (I don't know why people from MN want to stay there, but DH likes it.)
There are only 2 parts to this post, but I thought I shoud divide it here.
