Mad Question - anyone stayed in a suite at the DLH?

DH has suddenly realised that if we stay at the DLH as opposed to the Marriott then we are all in the same room (well, M&D have a separate one) so when the kiddies go to bed, we kind of twiddle our thumbs (very quietly)

So, today he announced I should get a quote for a suite Erm, not sure where the money is coming from and I doubt for one min that we can afford it but hey - I'll do as he asks Was on hold on the booking line for 20 mins today to be told I have to call France for a price and they aren't open until Monday!!

So, go on, humour me, anyone stayed in one and was it extortionate (silly qu really considering two standard rooms will cost in excess of £2k for 5 nights!!)

Yes but I believe you get a lounge area so can 'retreat' once they are asleep. (Tbh he's living in a dream world but hey - I can ask)

It's the most expensive suite though, so I suspect it's a little above your (and almost everybody on this board, including me ) price range

Secondly, I wouldn't dream of letting my DD1 loose in there

And thirdly, I actually thought the kitchen was v dingey for a suite like that (but then I don't suppose anyone staying there makes a meal themselves eh - prob just use the fridge to store their champers?!!)

I've just told DH the cost and he was amused to say the least I honestly think he thought it would be about another £250 on top of what we would pay for a standard room - bless him eh?

As I say, it's the most expensive suite - there are some more affordable suites.

Trip Reports might be another good source of information - I certain know somebody here stayed in a Tinkerbell suite.

what about a suite in the sequoia lodge or newport bay, would they be any cheaper?

Having looked into a bit, it seems that the suites are all one bedroom - not ideal for us really. So as it's going to cost more, we'd just be better off with the two standard rooms at the DLH I think. Mum coming round tonight to finalise it all as we go next weekend and it's still not sorted

What they need at Disney is some apartment type accom that are on site - not DCR as that's a drive. I'm sure they'd be sooo popular with families - can't believe they haven't done it tbh. Or at least kept the shuttle to/from DCR so that people don't need a car....

Quite odd really esp as Disney is really (but not always I grant) a family thing...?

I received an official price list in 2004 from Disney along with a beautiful book about the suits. I still have it as a reminder for almost getting a hart attack

They used to have free buses to DCR, but they were cut back when DIsney were having financial problems. They make more money out of people that have connecting rooms.

Your choices are:

- Connecting rooms in a Disney resort
- DCR for up to 6 people
- Marriott Vacation Club 2 and 3 bedroom houses (much better quality than anything DLP offers)
- Explorer Club for up to 6 people
- Adagio apartments in Val De Europe (feels very budget)

There are plenty of choices. Personally I think from everything you have said, you would be best off with Marriott.

Here it is but please remember it 's from 2004. I think if you add 25 ore 40 % extra you have a rough idea what a suite costs.

I stayed in a suite at Newport Bay in July 2007. It cost 450 euro per night at the time. Although it had 1 bedroom, the living room doubled up as a bedroom because it had a (very comfortable) sofa bed. I did a review of it at the time. You can find it at :

Well - it's sorted - we are NOT staying in a suite But we've gone with the DLH I think for this time it suits us but in future we'd need to think again (DD2 will be weaned etc and we'll be on our own whereas this time we have M&D and their room also to use if need be).
