Who's done mad hatter tea party at Grand Floridian? How was it? Worth the money?
Thanks :earsboy:

I'm interested to hear any reports about this too, as we're thinking of taking DD next year. :)

Yes! It is worth the money! You get to the GF and check in at about 1:15. You get a beeper and a receipt that you must have in order to claim your child. They get the kids all psyched up and you get to walk in with them and help them choose a seat. Then, it's bye-bye parents. They are there until 2:30 which gave me an hour to shop and take some pictures of all the holiday decor. When it's time to go get the kids, you will get beeped, but I made sure I was down there a little early. The kids decorate cupcakes, have "tea" and get a picture taken with Alice and the Mad Hatter that is autographed. There is a little suprise at the end for the parents, but I'm not going to give it away.

It was really nice and my dd had a blast!

I agree with the previous post, it is great. My DD did it last month and she loved having her cupcake first which they get to decorate and then they have chicken fingers, sandwiches and "tea" (apple juice) and grapes (which were for throwing at the mad hatter!!!!) She had a blast and it gives you time to check out the Grand Floridian!!! :flower:

I won't give away the "surprise" either!!!! :cool1:

Would my DS6 feel out of place? Is it more of a girl thing to do???

he probably would feel out of place. I would have at 6. Tea parties are a good bid girly and woudl be soemthing his friends would make fun of him for going to. doesn't sound like something a 6 year old boy would like.

in fact boys get no love by disney at all anymore... everything is princesses and fairies.

I agree that he probably would feel out of place..

Not sure why you say boys dont get any love by Disney.. There is so much for boys... Mickey, Goofy, Pluto, Buzz, Stitch and sooo much more..

My DN , 5, did this last March and LOVED it. While she was in the tea, my mother and I had tea in the tea room. When it was time to get her, I just popped over, got her and brought her back to sit while we finished our tea. She would do this again anytime!

There were boys in the group, not sure how much they liked it, but the table was awesome and the mad hatter is a boy too, so....

Depends too on what the boy likes to do. If he has sisters and plays with them, he may enjoy this. And no one back home has to know he went to a tea party!

What about the Pirate Cruise for the 6 year old boy? I would think he would love that!

Firstly, thanks for all the info. - I think we will definately be booking this for DD! She loved meeting the Mad Hatter and Alice at the breakfast in 1900 Park Fare (also at GF) last year and she often asks to go back there - this will make it a bit more special! :goodvibes

Secondly,

I don't have any boys but I can see what you mean Mecha Figment. I'm sure they could have a Toy Story/Villains/Pirates themed breakfast or something for the little guys! :earsboy:

I'm sure boys and girls would all enjoy the Pirate Cruise! pirate:

My ds (5) has done it twice. Both times there were other boys there. In fact last July he was one of 5 boys! So he won't feel out of place. My dds go because of Alice, ds just loves the Mad Hatter. All three kids love the Wonderland Tea Party and go every summer trip.

thanks everyone for all the info. We leave in two weeks and have set up the tea party for my twin 3 year olds. I think they are going to love it too. :earsgirl:

I definitely don't agree with this! My DS did this last year and he was 8. He loved it! My younger DS (who was 3) went with him and this was all I heard about for days afterward. The Mad Hatter is there so it is definitely not just for girls and there is lots of Disney magic for the boys. My boys were really impressed with meeting Alice, too, and loved eating their cupcakes first!

DD loves the tea party. The picture in my sig is her leaving the tea party with flowers for mommy.

My girls did this a couple of months ago. They loved it! There is also lunch served - they told me PBJs and chicken nuggets.

For those counting on the Mad Hatter....he wasn't there at their party. It was Alice and Mary Poppins. You know....."Characters are always subject to change....."

I definitely think it is worth the money. Not sure if a little boy would enjoy it, though. It was ALL girls at my kids' party.

The kids had a really great time and it was something special since we have been to WDW over and over and over again!!

My daughter went to the Alice Tea Party two years ago when she was eight and I still think it is the best value at WDW. Don't tell Disney this or they will either get rid of it or increase the prices. :) We are passholders and Florida residents so we have a Discount Dining card which we used for the Tea to discount the price. I made DD an Alice costume and because she has long blonde hair, she looked just like Alice. In fact when she wears it to the parks, she has fooled other guests into thinking she is a Disney employee dressed as Alice.

Anyway, when DD went there were boys and girls and all loved the party. Alice and the Mad Hatter were present and we received a Polaroid picture of her with the two of them. They signed the picture with a cute saying about DD and how much she looked like Alice. The table is beautifully set up with colorful teapots and cups. The first thing they did was to sit at the table and have their dessert (a cupcake) first. Then Alice and the Mad Hatter came out and they had a contest to see who could take the largest bite out a cupcake. Then they had sandwiches and tea. DD said it wasn't real tea. It was some sort of juice. Then they sang a song and then the Mad Hatter and Alice left and the children played Hide and Seek. Then the children made something to give to their parents. Then the party was over.

While DD was attending the tea party, DH and I had high tea at the restaurant in the Grand Floridian. I would highly recommend doing this. After DD was finished, she came over and had high tea with us as well and really enjoyed it. Again, another tea that is well worth the price.
