I'm in the same boat and BCP aren't an option because they raise my blood pressure. I've also had adverse reactions to other hormone treatments. I'm waiting for my follow up appointment to find out what they're going to recommend for me - at my original appointment she said I'm probably looking at something surgical. She scheduled my labwork and ultrasound and then referred me. I wasn't able to get an appointment with the new doctor until March so I've been calling in hoping for cancelations.
At my ultrasound there were several interns so they were talking about everything they saw and boy, I learned a lot. One of my fibroids is the size of an orange. It sort of alarmed me - is that typical?

I've had the Mirena for about 3 years now and have had no problem with it.
And for those that think this is TMI - go read another thread - there are thousands of them.
since it's much less invasive. What they do is inject plastic pellets to block the blood supply feeding the fibroids which causes them to shrink and die.
