Is it at IOA or US? What day(s) is it there? Should I avoid the park on that/those day(s) if I don't want to see the park (ie. does it make the park more crowded)?

I tried to check on the US website but it just said Dec. 6-Jan. 1 with no other info that I could find.

The Macy's parade doesn't affect the crowd levels in the park that much. Compared to Disney (I know, I know, shoot me now), the parade is not something that people flock to UNiversal to see. At least nobody that I've ever talked to. The balloons are definitely cool though.

Of course, if you're planning on going to the parks the week of Dec. 21 through Jan.1, you're going to encounter crowds. This is the very busiest week of all at the theme parks.

It's at Universal Studios everyday through January 1st at 5:00pm. It starts by the Beetlejuice Stage, continues down South St., around Mel's Drive-In, down Rodeo, through Production Central around the Christmas Tree that's in front of the New York Library facade, and back to the Beetlejuice Stage.

The best place to stand is by the Christmas Tree in New York. There is a Santa float at the end of the parade and it includes a small extra fun thing for kids. South St can be fun just because half of the balloons are larger than the street itself is.

There's not really a way to avoid the park. You have to be inside the park in order to enjoy the parade.
