Let's have a Parade! December 13, 2002 through January 5, 2003
Macy's will bring the magic and merriment of its world-famous Thanksgiving Day Parade to Universal Orlando with a brand-new Parade experience that will celebrate the holiday season. The all-new Macy's Holiday ParadeTM will be presented daily beginning December 13, 2002 through January 5, 2003 at the Universal Studios Florida theme park, and will showcase the pageantry of the Parade from its signature balloons and fabulous floats to its brigades of bands and corps of clowns.



Macy's Holiday Parade will jubilantly march its way through the movie-themed streets and avenues of Universal Studios, passing by such famous Universal rides and attractions as Terminator 2-3 and Twister, Ride it Out! With colorful costumes, fun-loving toy floats and signature novelty and character balloons, the procession will conclude with a Christmas tree lighting ceremony at the façade of Macy's Herald Square.

Each day, a select number of Universal Studios guests will be able to sign up to march in the parade as balloon handlers, and one lucky family will get the chance to ride with Santa Claus as part of the spectacular grand finale. Marching bands from across the country will take part in the parade with renditions of holiday music.

The Parade experience doesn't stop at the steps of Macy's facade at Universal Orlando. There's more fun in store as several gigantic cold air balloons are displayed throughout Universal Studios, as well as next-door at Universal's Islands of Adventure theme park.

I am SO looking forward to this.

I'll be taking my girlfriend to Florida for the first time after Christmas ( and staying for New Year ) and it's just another cool thing to show her.

I almost makes up for the fact that I haven't managed to make it over for HHN for the first time in 5 years .. almost !

Does anyone know if Grinchmas is scheduled to start on Nov. 22nd this year would they possibly have a "soft opening" for it the weekend before (11/15-11/17). Or does anyone know who I could call to find out.

I don't think they have a soft opening for Grinchmas, at least not in the years past. The IOA guest services number is (407) 224-6350 but I wouldn't count on it opening early.

I am also looking forward to this! Going to the Macy's Thanksgiving Day parade was a tradition when I grew up in New York. In fact, my parents met at Gimbles across the street from Macy's 62 years ago!

I choke up everytime I see the NY replica in Universal. The parade will be an added plus!
