Sorry -- I would have done a search, but the search function appears to be disabled.

My sister just started a new vegan and macrobiotic eating plan -- we going to WDW at the end of Feb though and I don't want her to stress over what she is going to be able to eat. I know that there is a number we can call in advance to talk to the dining folks about making sure that there are options for her -- and we will do that -- but what I was wonderdering if any of you have tried to accomodate that sort of eating plan while there. The Vegan part seems easier to me to work with -- but she also does not eat sugar or anything processed. Anyone have any experiences to share??

Thanks.

Lauren

I think you are going to have a great deal of difficulty with "anything processed" when you are talking about counter service. The CS restaurants do have "ingredient books" that they will let her look at before she orders anything. I kind of hope you're not on the regular or QS dining plans because it sounds like she might need to concentrate on the table service restaurants where they can probably prepare something for her.

I think you should also call WDW-DINE and have her dietary requirements listed on your reservations.

Seriously, she won't have a problem if she does some research beforehand. It may be a problem with the unprocessed foods, but I'm pretty sure it can be done. If you need some suggestions on vegan food, check out mine or v_gan's dining reviews :)

our family is vegan/macro and we went to DW 2 months ago. We had no problems, for the most part. Call the WDW dine hotline and let them know. They will send you a form that you can fill out, and then they will send that form to the restaurants you eat at so they know ahead of time. A few restaurants had vegan options. The only place we had difficulty at was the italian restaurant at epcot. They said they weren't 'allowed' to change dishes around (we asked for the pasta dish without cheese) I think we just had a uninformed CM. Good luck!

I traveled to WDW with a vegan friend a few years back and found the staff at all of the restaurants were incredibly accommodating, especially at the California Grill and at Boma. At Boma, the chef took her on a tour of the buffet showing her what she could and couldn't eat then asked her for some of her favorite things to eat. He whipped up a custom meal just for her that she said was one of the most delicious she has ever had.

We did nothing in advance, just told our servers when we sat down, but since your sister has two dietary restrictions, it is probably worth making a call to WDW Dining before you go.

Good luck!

I'm also vegan and very rarely eat processed food. I've found in WDW that I have to eat some processed food (like white pasta), because I'm also allergic to soy and nuts and would be really hungry if I literally only ate plain vegetables. Recently, though, we did receive a list of food from the allergy people that the restaurants apparently have that I never knew about. Like, for the pasta example, they had rice pasta on the list. So I would definitely try to talk to the chefs about it. I'd love to hear how you made out, and I'll definitely post about my experiences next week and twitter about them the moment they happen.

We went a couple of years ago with a person with food allergies, one on low-carb, and one vegetarian and I went through it when making my dining reservations and requested to speak with each chef. They gave me phone numbers to the restaurants and I called and everyone was taken care of very well.
