Will be driving to Disney from Michigan with an overnight stay somewhere south of Atlanta.

Has anyone ever stayed in Macon or somewhere near? Can you suggest a good safe cheap hotel, motel in the area?

Here is a website that will help you with that. Unless it puts you out quite late I'd probably go a bit further south down to Tifton. Macon still leaves you with quite a drive the next day...five to six hours depending on your driving habits.

I picked the page that has the I-475 bypass info on it...I would at least choose that route so that in the AM you are dealing with a minimum of truck traffic.

Other than that I would say just pick a hotel, note the town and then check it out on www.tripadvisor.com.

You probably don't want to stop in Macon. The bypass will take you away from the town and there's really no reason to go there.

Perry is a bit south of Macon. The town basically exists as a massive exit off the highway with 100 fast-food restaurants, gas stations and motels. All the basics like Hampton/Quality/Comfort Inn's are right there off the highway.
