Maclaren Quest Question - How the Heck????

We have had a Maclaren Triumph for a couple of years now and *love* it. So we decided to buy another Maclaren for our other daughter for our upcoming trip. When I started searching online, I found last years' model Quest for less than a Triumph, so I ordered it. Well, we found it to be just as comfy and easy to push as the Triumph, with some added features that our Triumph doesn't have. HOWEVER -- how the heck do you fold it up? With our Triumph, there is a strap, and you can step on the side lever and then pull up on the strap to fold it up in one quick movement. With the Quest, there is no strap, and it seems like you have to simultaneously step on the lever on the right side and pull up on the lever in the middle between the wheels. I find it impossible to do since i don't know how to levitate, so I find myself having to contort my body, getting down on the ground to try and fold the darn thing up.

This is NOT going to work when we have to make a lightning quick fold-up for a bus to the parks, etc. Does anyone have tips on how to quickly and easily fold up the Maclaren Quest? Am I missing something here?

I am new to the Mac Quest but I think I have your question figured out. First you just lift the lever in the middle with either your hand or foot. Very little effort is needed on mine. Next step on the side lever while folding handles kind of in and down at the same time.

It's really very easy to do once you get the hang of it. If you have an owner's manual, there are pictures that will help explain what I am describing.

So, to answer your question, you don't have to do both things at once. First middle lever up, then side lever down and fold.

I had to go to their website and follow the instructions/pictures step by step. Once I figured it out, it is very easy. But I don't know how to explain it well. I'd go to the website and look there (there may even have been a video, I don't remember).

Yea, I think Mac learned from that. This years model of the quest has the shoulder carry strap that the triumph has, so it closes just like the triumph. You pull the strap and push on the little side lever. The newer model also has joined breaks. One lever in the middle connects both breaks. The only reason I know this is because I too bought a cheaper quest...found out it was last years model, didn't like that it didn't have the strap or connected breaks, and returned it for the newer model. I'm thinking that this is the reason the older model is so much cheaper. If you can, you may want to return it to see if you can get this years model, or just practice practice practice. I'm sure once you get used to it, it will fold pretty quick. good luck!

You don't need to do both at the same time. You must do the middle lock first (I lift up on it with my foot from underneath), then push down on the side safety lock.

I've never owned a mac with the shoulder strap but the way you describe I'm assuming you can pull the middle lock up by pulling on the strap and then doing the side lock. For models without the shoulder strap, you just kick the middle one up first.

I pretty much do what the others have posted, but I found a black "handle" that is attached to the back of the seat. After I've pushed up on the bottom middle lever and then pushed down on the side lever I then pull up on that handle and it gives the stroller the little start it needs to be folded in and down. I had a hard time figuring it out too, but once I got the hang of it, it's pretty simple. Good luck and enjoy.

thanks for all the suggestions! i think that part of it is that the side lever on the Quest seems a lot harder to push down than the Triumph's. After practicing what you guys suggested several times, I *am* able to do it without having to use my hands or contort myself, but it is SO much more difficult than w/our Triumph. If I hadn't gotten such a great deal on it, and if it hadn't come from an online vendor (so it would have cost lots of $$ to send it back!), I might have returned it and gotten another Triumph.

I was thinking of trying to fashion some sort of strap for it like the Triumph's to make things easier. Has anyone had any luck attaching something "aftermarket" like that to the back of the Quest?

I got both of mine from albeebaby.com at great prices. My Volo (a few years back) was $68 and my Quest Mod I ordered last year for $129

I bought a 2007 Quest from a powerseller on ebay for $120 shipped last month. It was new in box and he had 14 or 15 of them but the catch was that it is a bright coral pink. I would have preferred a more neutral color, but the black was more money ($20 or so more, if I remember correctly) so I can deal with the pink since my youngest is a girl.

i also got both my maclarens from albeebaby.com. My quest mod was 119.99 with free shipping. it is a blue color with abstract flowers, but I have two girls, so that's OK.
