Maclaren owners - question/advice

I am the proud owner of a 2006 Maclaren. I love everything about it but one thing. The 2006's did not come with an over-the-shoulder carrying strap, just a rubber handle (like a suitcase). I would prefer to throw it over my shoulder for climbing on and off the buses while holding DS1. I have tried a strap from a duffle bag with metal clips at both ends and it worked, but it put a ding or two in the brace bars. I tried a rubber coated bungee cord and I think that would work if I could get a longer one. Can anyone tell me where the carrying strap is connected on the Maclarens? I was wrapping one end near a handle and hooking the other on the push down/cross bar. I saw a tripod handle on ebay that has adjustable loops on each end as well as a padded strap. I thought I could loop one end around the one of the wheels and the other around the handles. (Here's the auction number:320204817458). Could anyone offer advice as to what might work or if they have found a solution?

Thanks in advance!
Diana

Can't you just order a replacement strap from the company???

Anyhow my Volo's strap is attached two the handles just below the curve at the top ... not sure where it attaches at the bottom though ... never paid any attention.

I thought about a replacement strap. The Maclaren web site is down for remodeling so I couldn't check. I suspect it would take a while and be quite costly. I am looking at straps that might do for under $15. Also, since the stroller is not fitted for a strap, I wasn't sure a replacement would attach. That is another reason I posted. I wanted to know how the strap attached to the stroller and where.

Thanks,
Diana

Did you purchase a Volo or a Qwest or Triumph? My Volo has a carry strap, but my Qwest has the carry handle. I think it depends on the model as to what you get to carry it with.

I bought the 2006 Quest. You are correct. It was made with the carrying handle, not the strap. The newer ones have the carrying strap. I wanted to work something out, as it will be just me with DDs 8,6 and DS1 getting on and off the buses. I figure I will have DDs carry the backpack and fanny pack. I will carry DS1 with the stroller over my shoulder. But I need to get the strap situation figured out. Any ideas/advice?

Thanks,
Diana

I was looking for the same type of thing for my Mac. I also have a Volo that has the strap so I was looking at the two to see what the difference was. The Volo has a hook riveted in where the metal bars meet on the bottom and the Quest doesn't have anything there to connect a strap to.

I have been looking at tripod/camera straps. I just tried one out at a local camera store. It is padded and has two loops on the end I think I can loop around a handle and the other around the foot fold release pedal thingy. It is $8.

Call Maclaren. Order a replacement strap for a TRIUMPH. It's not that expensive.

Take a thick key ring. Loop it around the center bar that comes up when you fold the stroller (the two bars form an upside down V, there is a vertical bar that runs down and connects the two bars of the v. Loop the key ring to that vertical bar). Clip the Maclaren strap to the keyring. Attach the rest of the maclaren strap around the handles, as in the Triumph. Voila.

Ah! Thank you! When I first posted, I was hoping I would get this kind of instruction. I will give them a call. Thanks again!
