Looking at getting 14 y/o her first Mac. She has been very involved in web design for about a year and her PC isn't cutting it.

Am I being unrealistic to think that the 2.53 GHz, 4GB memory and 250G hard drive would last her through college? She is starting 10th grade this year. Or will we need to upgrade again? Thanks!

Well, I've had my G5 for 3.5 years and just upgraded to a macbook pro (sounds like the one you're looking at). There is absolutely NOTHING wrong w/ my old computer... so I would say it would last her through college.

This is such a great computer. We called our insurance agent and added a rider for the computer. For a very small amount it is covered for loss/damage. Without the rider it only had limited coverage on our homeowner's insurance. I was worried our student would drop it or it would get stolen and we are hoping it will make it through college!
