Hi all,

I have a serious love of macaroons! Please could you tell me some of the best places I can find them and some of the flavours you recommend for my trip in September?

Many thanks,

Amy

French style macarons can be found at Big Top Treats in MK, the French pavilion at Epcot, and I believe sometimes at Goofy's Candy Shop at DTD.

:)

Are you looking for macaroons (coconut cookies) or macarons (colorful French sandwich cookies)?

As the PP said, macarons can be found in Epcot's French pavilion in the Les Halles bakery. They also make an ice cream version at the ice cream shop in the same pavilion. You can sometimes find them at the various WDW bakeries as well, although not all of the bakeries have them.

I haven't seen macaroons at WDW, although I've really never looked. Hopefully someone else will have more information for you...if those are what you are looking for.

Have a great trip!

Since she asked for flavors, I'm assuming she means macarons. I love macarons!

Last time I looked, there was a blackberry macaron on the menu at Boardwalk Bakery. Also, Les Halles has a macaron collection (idk how many come in the box) for $10.33.

There is also the delicious ice cream macaron at L'Artisan des Glaces in the France Pavilion.

L'Artisan des Glaces in Epcot's France Pavilion had a great pumpkin flavoured macaron last fall. Absolutely wonderful. Think of the Harry Potter Halloween feast scene but magnify the taste x10. Really good. Think they try to offer a seasonal flavour as well as a reliable chocolate or other.

In September, the Main Street Bakery had over sized Mickey Shaped French macaroons. They were about 3 inches in diameter, plus ears.

FYI - in case you are interested, they are not as hard to make as some think. I made multiple batches for a baby shower. The hardest part was locating the almond flour. Nutella makes a great filling, though probably not very "authentic". But who cares?

Good to know about the Nutella! Will definitely pass that along as we have used tinted buttercream frosting before. My daughter makes these and has both ground the almonds and sifted (a real pain) and used the Bob's Red Mill brand that we've found at The Fresh Market )I've read of some people having luck finding it at Walmart too). Amazon shows it on their website.

I think it's more a matter of how good a baker you are. My best friend makes macarons and while he's gotten the hang of it, it's not the easiest cookie to make since it's basically baked meringue which can be very temperamental. You have to get the aeration just right while make the ends so that they bake right. But kudos to you for being able to accomplish making them. I suck at baking, lol.

Aeration really is the key. If you over mix the batter gets runny and you have to start over. (Found that out the hard way). But oh, when they turn out right, it's a wonderful experience! Amy made them to take to school for a class (literature maybe) and they were such a hit! (My kitchen, on the other hand, was an absolute disaster!)

Ugh, now I want some macarons. I'll have to cheat and get the frozen ones from Trader Joe's when I go grocery shopping again. Or, even worse, the frozen ones from Wal-Mart, lol.

Hi all,

Yes - sorry I meant macarons. Google failed me though as I spell-checked macaroon and it came up with lots of pictures of the french sweet meringue-based confection.

Thanks for all your responses so far!
