We ate dinner tonight listening to the very loud whirring of hovering helicopters and screeching sirens. I ran downstairs to lock the front door, wondering if there was an escaped convict or something. I live on a REALLY quiet one lane street, and nothing ever happens here, but the helicopters were right over my house!
I commented to my friend that it might be because of the Amber alert, a 19 day old infant was taken by his father this afternoon about 8 miles from here in East Boston.
I just found out that a police officer saw the car two streets away from my house and found the man and baby in the same area. Thankfully the poor little one was safe and the bad-guy dad safely arrested. Yikes, I thought tonight's big dinner excitement was going to be the fresh corn from yesterday's trip to the farmstand.

Country living with a Boston skyline view! We even have a family of wild turkeys that look for breakfast in my yard. I love it too!

that's good news. :wave2:

I'd never heard an Amber alert on the radio before.

Good news ending. We get our local ambers on the weather alert radio. Signal goes off, and it tells us.

They've erected big electronic signs over the interstates here. They post Amber Alerts... or stuff like "accident up ahead @ I 20/59... traffic backed up for 1 mile" stuff like that. Pretty neat actually.

Funny! I grew up in Meffa!

Also saw the Amber Alert driving into Boston to work tonight, glad they caught him. What excitement in your neighborhood! Where I now live we occasionally get the MedFlight on my street too, breaks up the quiet. Sa hi to the north shore for me.

We heard a lot of helicopters overhead last night too(Im in Woburn, right along 128) and I was wondering if they were because of the search.
I had never heard one on the radio either. It was strange. Im so glad they found that little guy.

I just love a happy ending. I was so happy to hear that baby had been found when I turned on the news this morning. Must have been really something to have it happen right in your neighborhood tho.

I'm so glad to hear everything turned out okay. What excitement during your dinner.

Saw the baby's picture on the front page of the Metro today (what a little sweetie). I'm so glad they got him before his apparently very unstable father did something to hurt him.

We lived in Malden when we were first married and I taught school there. Of course, my students would now be in their late 40s. It's interesting to see the last two Amber Alerts involved Malden in different ways.
