M & S travel insurance

Try Asda we have used them several times for my son now and they seem to be good value for money

I have recommended M&S to many people but, when we went to re-new our annual policy, this year, they wouldn't insure DH for Florida as their 'criteria has changed......' :confused3

I claimed for DD's ear infection last year and a flight delay and was really impressed with the service and simplicity of claiming.

This year I had to visit the dentist, in Italy, when my tooth fell apart :sad2:
I ended up claiming the £100 off my Westfield account as M&S were asking me to get a doctor's letter (at whatever price a doc's letter is) so that the doc, in turn, could write to the dentist.................. :confused3
The doctor has never seen my teeth!!

Our policy expires in October but we'll be looking round again for our next trip

Have you tried looking on moneysupermarket.com? I always seem to find something suitable for us on there.

Good luck! :goodvibes

We are with Virgin Money as it was the best deal for us at the time, but we just have a couple worldwide annual policy - no kids.

Age Concern came up trumps and covered DH, at a reasonable price, after M&S had said no :thumbsup2

And, no, you don't have to be elderly. DH is only 39 :sunny:

I am with insureandgo.co.uk they seem good and paid out very quickly on a travel delay last year.

glad it happened to you to (well not glad but you know what I mean  ) couldn't believe it when he said an extra £250 when there was no change. I recommened M & S to to loads of people :furious: and............. another thing that annoyed me was that he ran through everything at 100 miles an hour I had to keep asking him to stop and repeat. probably why he bumped up the policy :rotfl:

would the likes of Asda insure for special needs ? does anyone know ?

we used esure in 2005 so will phone them to. I tried fortisinsurance but they ask you to punch in your postcodeand when I did it they said no agents :confused3

That's often the problem when there is an existing medical need.
There are so many fantastic quotes on comparison sites, such as Moneysupermarket, but can you get them! :rolleyes1

I'd certainly try all the more reasonable options that are recommended, making clear the situation to ensure you'd be covered, before trying any 'specialist' companies.
You may be pleasantly surprised :teeth:

M&S did say that they'd cover Phil if we were travelling in Europe but that it was the US bit that was the problem :sad2: .

Good luck :sunny:

We have been with Columbus for four years. The premium for DW, 2 x DD and myself for this year, worldwide as many times as you like was £84.96.

We thankfully don't have any medical issues that might affect the premium but it may be worthwhile talking to them.

I know a lot of insurance companys use the same Underwriters so will basically give you the same answer, I know for a fact BUPA are their own underwriters as a colleague in the office has Angina and was finding it almost impossible to get cover- and I work for an insurance company and even they refused to cover him without a £200 extra fee.

In the end he was advised to contact BUPA and got a policy for about £90 for a year, and his Angina was covered too.

M&S wouldn't cover all DH medical problems last year for our WDW trip, but others would for a price - we found tesco to be the best cover for the best price. We're using them for our trip to DLP in october and will try them again for the US next year.

thing is though NOTHNG had changed since M & S covered us last year :confused3 BUPA wouldn't even quote once I mentioned he was in a wheelchair which apparently is against the disability discrimiation act but couldn't find the energy to argue with them.

away to try Tesco and Esure

Nothing had changed with us either but the lady I spoke to said that their criteria had changed

We have always used M&S and found them to be good. DD now has a minor heart condition and they will still cover her subject to a small additional premium (arund £20).

I think that the problems are arising because they have changed underwriters in the last year - I think the new ones have different criteria to the old ones.

dh has some fairly complex special needs, we now always use post office travel insurance, they really went above and beyond when we had to claim!

we were on a coach tour (never again, lol) to austria, on the ferry dh had a major seizure, we were dropped (with our luggage) at calais hospital, our bus took off without us!

that night I phoned the post office emergency line... we went to a local hotel and stayed overnight (once dh recovered a little and had some oxygen to perk him up)

the next day the post office travel insurance rep booked us a private ambulance to lyon, a night in a hotel (inc meals), a plane to switzerland (business class) and another plane to salzburgh, they transferred us to the town centre and we met up with our group there!

it was amazing, they really saved our trip.

they dont seem to charge much extra at all for pre existing conditions

HI ALI
We got our family travel insurance free with the bank :cool1:

That's great Gills but, unfortunately, the chances of getting free insurance cover, and being fully covered, are pretty non existant if you have a pre-existing medical condition :sad2:
