M & M’s Adult Only Tour – pre-Xmas 04

Scene setting………

Cast:

Angel (Mandy) – age unknown but a very young looking person considering the stress! Shopaholic extraordinaire, pitiful drinker, and looking for some r & r.

Chunkster20uk (Mark) – a little bit younger but looks much older (ouch, stop that!) since we got married last year and he acquired a wife and step daughter – foodaholic, drinks with the big boys, just wants to have some fun.

Joining us for the cruise:

Deb & Matt, and Kev & Tammy – the 4 musketeers, Disney-loving friends from The DIS, our resident comedy entertainers and drinking companions.

Becky (16) – not coming with us but I talk about her a lot!! – my baby, who’s not such a baby now, staying at home with Nan to look after her. Rock chick, cool gal and other phrases she’d laugh at me for saying.

We planned this trip after our family holiday to the World in March to give us some time alone together and boy did we need it after the last few weeks of stress. Enough said that things have been pretty tough since moving to Reading, with me giving up work and becoming a (not so) mature student, Becky starting a new college and having to make new friends and then having one of her bad-depression episodes just before we came away.

We need our holiday!



So, eventually got everything packed into 2 suitcases (are you sure we shouldn’t take an extra one dear?)……took it all out again and managed to pick out 5 t shirts to leave behind. This still left me with 20 or so, so I figured that would do me til I bought some more………after all we were there for 15 nights! Hmmmmmm still looks like we’re taking far too many clothes for just 15 days, but hey, what’s a girl to do? Anyway, I’m sure I’d be taking much less if we weren’t going cruising for 4 days…..you have to have a different outfit for every night then, right?

The planned itinery for this trip is 1 week in Lisag’s villa, 4 nights on the Disney Wonder, then 5 nights Club level at Hard Rock Hotel. I’d booked a convertible as this is something I’d always wanted to do, a bit of an unnecessary luxury I know but hey ho its only money right? (you’ll see a pattern here after a while). We’d also booked Emerils at Citywalk for the 11th December as Mark wanted to try it…and lots of r & r time. We had DIS friends joining us for the last 2 nights at the villa and the cruise so we were looking forward to a very jolly (hic) time.

Friday 26th November arrived and fate of course conspired to make sure I was so stressed as to really appreciate the holiday. Becky had recovered somewhat from her latest ‘down’ time and I was due to pick her up from college, wiz her back home to pack then rendezvous with a good friend who was driving her down to Southend for the weekend. She was then coming back to reading with my Mum on the Sunday for the duration. You know what they say about the best laid plans though……..

Managed to finish my Uni essay at long last and emailed it in to Uni, got stuck in dreadful traffic round Reading as the town ground to a halt following an accident on the M4….blast and other not so polite words…..get home to find a message from Stephen my friend……he’s just leaving work (just outside Reading) already and is on his way to meet us……I tell him about the traffic and he swears a lot and says ok he’ll get to us asap. Make arrangements to meet near the M4 to save him a bit of time……spend 40 minutes driving the 10 min journey to our rendezvous and then wait 1 hour as he’s held up in the traffic……..see how the day went?

Anyway, Becky duly sorted (tears from me at leaving her) I pick up Mark and we head home…at last! We were due to go to a quiz night tonight but decide the traffic has had the better of us and we’ll just take it easy, finish the packing and stay home. Do I really need 7 bikini/swim suits?? Who knows? How do I know which one I’ll want to wear on the day? Oh I’ll take them all then…….Mark will just have to take out some of his t shirts….Im sure he’s taking far too many clothes anyway! Cram it all in 2 suitcases, and my large bag of meds in my flight bag (sound like a right hypochondriac now, but Im taking no chances and have my epi-pen in my hand luggage!)

Time for a quick DiBB then to bed to dream of Disney and get ready for my last Uni class tomorrow…..dont think I’ll be concentrating do you?
