I'm sorry about this, but I just can't find the threads and I know there have been numerous ones although I suspect Lynx wasn't originally in the title

Several people have recommended using the Lynx bus from DTD to get to certain shopping malls/supermarkets, albeit that a transfer is required for the final part of the trip. I'm just looking into some options to get out. We have a few "loose" days planned this trip and I would like to go somewhere else but I don't want to be paying $40+ each time we take a taxi somewhere.

Please let it be noted I don't have a great sense of direction. I also don't want to end up in tears because I don't know where I am. :rotfl:

I've been researching this, but in the other direction because we're staying on International Drive and trying to figure out how to get around without a car! Which shopping outlets are you trying to get to? The 50 goes from DTD (the Lynx website says D/T Disney Wside Transfer CTR AR, if that makes more sense to you than it does to me!) to Sea World every half hour at 18 and 48 past the hour, and from Sea World you can get the 8 to various places around International Drive, and I think the I-Ride trolley goes down there too. Please someone tell me if I'm wrong or else I'll be completely lost!

My only word of warning is that Lynx buses are notoriously slow/take an age to get anywhere as they stop nearly ever few hundred yards. We took a Lynx bus from International Drive to one of the malls (think it was Florida Mall) one year and it took us over 90 minutes to get there  Needless to say, we got a taxi back - taxi from Florida Mall to Belz at that time was $15.

Here is a link to the Lynx website route maps/planner page which shows the various routes

http://www.golynx.com/?fuse=cstm&app=route

The 24 is the one you take from Prime Outlets to Mall at Millennia.

The 50 is the one which goes from International Drive (opp Sea World) to TTC at WDW

The Lynx website and schedule make no sense to me. The trouble with mapping a route is that you need to know where it ACTUALLY stops along the route you want if you want to generate a result. It doesn't automatically pull up the nearest stop to the destination you plug in if it isn't an official stop.

I can just see myself sitting on this bus and wondering if it's worth trying to save $15 :rotfl:

We go to Premium Outlets but I felt like doing another mall as well. If I can find out if the shuttle to Buena Vista Outlets is avalable for anyone to use or just for Hilton (? - cant remember the exact DTD hotel it services) then it may just be a whole lot easier to try that.

DD gets her own spending money and she loves looking through the things at the retail outlet character stores (and other stores) where her money goes further.

I am always very cautious about safety as well.

Yikes! :scared1:

We were planning on using the buses this year but I really don't want to be wasting loads of time travelling. Might be best to do a mix of both buses and taxis.

Just looked back at my trip report for that occasion and we went from Premium Outlets to Florida Mall, which took just over an hour so not quite as bad as I previously stated - it is incredibly frustrating, though, as they do stop very frequently.

Are you planning a lot of trips out? You see for me this is just trying to save a bit of money if there is an alternative means rather than just taxis, but we only plan on one definite, and perhaps a second, day out. Obviously if we wanted to make more trips it would make a bigger difference, but still, 2 trips in light to moderate traffic with taxis plus tips is likely to cost $70 - 80. That is a makeover for DD at BBB or even a signature TS for the two of us. :confused3

I emailed Lake Buena Vista Factory Outlets via the link on their website to ask if the free shuttle is for anyone or just for the Hilton or other participating hotel guests, but they didn't reply. I might just try again. It is another option.

I'm quite an impatient person so I would probably end up feeling quite annoyed!

Are you planning a lot of trips out?

Yeah, quite a few trips out. We want to go to Walmart, Florida Mall, Mall at Millenia, Premium Outlets, Prime Outlets and Universal Studios. You can see how taxis to and fro would really add up!!

Hmmm, I think we have something in common

Well this is precisely it. If I did more than 3 trips it would just be silly to take taxis. And like you, as a party of 2 it sort of works out more per head if you think of it that way, whereas a bus ticket you pay per person. So a taxi for a small family or group of 3 or 4 people isn't that much different in price, aside from adding on a tip. Halve the number of passengers and it is a lot cheaper to suck up the inconvenience and take the bus, even if only for one leg of each trip.

Exactly. It's a tough one! At the moment, I'm thinking we might take the bus to all of our shopping destinations and get a taxi back.

If you are doing half and half transport between buses and taxis, then that would be the better way to do it as trying to keep hold of all your shopping on a full bus can be difficult. Besides, after a day out, all you want to do is get back (and look at all your purchases :lmao:)

Seems like you have it all figured out now, but I'll just give my thoughts anyway :goodvibes

We used the lynx buses and I ride trolley constantly on our holiday last year, and thought they were marvellous. None of our journeys were rediculously long and we saved a bomb than if we'd gone be taxi.

We used the lynx from DTD a couple of times too, and have no complaints.

I too had trouble figuring out the lynx website. But what I found really helpful was to actually email lynx. Should be a query form or an email address somewhere on their site. I just explained that I couldn't quite get to grips with the maps on the website, and on numerous occasions, they gave me great replies on what buses/routes to take, where the bus stops were etc. So if you have trouble again, email them :goodvibes

Hope you figure it out! x

Ditto - four trips, no problems whatsoever using Lynx. Saved SO much money :thumbsup2

As we all tend to hit the same attractions (read; many a shopping malls to go, amongst others :rotfl::rotfl2: ) maybe it's an idea to copy paste some of the generic info from the reply mail to this topic? Assuming you've still got it to begin with. I think a lot of folks would appreciate it a lot!

I can only say I seriously appreciate anybody and everybody adding their bit of info and experience to these types of topics. :goodvibes We kinda already decided to stick with only one mall and a Walmart trip to keep the taxi costs acceptable (and the added fact that accessible taxi's need more time ahead to reserve and if I want a shopping fix, I want it NOW). Because of these types of topics, we've decided more malls is the way to go and I'm quite some time online working out how, when, with whome etc. ;)

I no longer have the messages unfortunately :( I would have if I hadn't cleared out my emails a month or so ago (I had over 13000 messages that had built up - seems I have a fear of the "delete" button :rotfl:).

If you let me know all the places that you want to visit though, and where you are travelling from etc, then I'd be more than happy to send Lynx an email and relay the info.

Let me know :goodvibes
