Before our vacation earlier this month, I had read here how it may be difficult to use Uber or Lyft with a
scooter.
This did not turn out to be true for us at all. It is up to the driver whether or not he wants to allow a scooter in his vehicle.
We did not have one driver who refused us. You must request Uber or Lyft XL which is a van or SUV etc which of course
costs more, but we felt the cost was very reasonable.
My husband took the seat and battery off the scooter each time and every driver was OK with that. He would help my
husband lift it into the SUV after we had told him DH and I could do the lifting. Not once did I have to help.
I'm not saying there are not drivers out there who don't want an
ECV in their vehicle. But we did not have that experience.
BTW one night when we came out of AK we were exhausted, saw Mear's up ahead and approached them for a ride.
There were 3 SUVs among the waiting cabs. Not one would take us. As we walked away from them, a cab/van from a
different company came up and my husband asked him if he could take us to our hotel. He was pleasant and said sure he could.
At that time, one of the Mear's drivers loudly said he would take us but we just ignored him and took the ride with the driver
who said right away he was happy to help us.
We were at Disney 2 weeks and used U/L at least a dozen times.
