We might stay at the Legoland Hotel, but I'm back and forth about the sensory overload. Thinking I might want something more relaxing. What's the nicest hotel within relative proximity?

Try doing an Expedia search for Davenport, FL. There are a couple properties there, maybe 10-15 miles from LegoLand.

Winter Haven isn't exactly luxury hotel central...... I'd stick with the Legoland Hotel. It is by far the nicest hotel in the immediate area.

The Omni is very nice, but it's not super close. May be close enough for you though.

We always stay at Wyndham Bonnet Creek now and drove to legoland last year from there and its really easy. There are a few nice hotels close to BC, the Hilton, Waldorf and also the Wyndham Grand. All have great pools, lazy rivers etc. If you stay at the Wyndham Grand you can also use all the facilites at Wyndham Bonnet Creek so five pools and 2 lazy rivers. I have seen some pretty good rates for these hotels.

It took me less than an hour but I am a very slow driver (seriously, I never overtake!). We took the I4 which is really easy to get to from BC then the US27. Easy. Our friends did same trip in 35 minutes. I think the park opened at 10 when we went so I know we didn't leave till after 9 and we got there exactly at park opening.

the closest "luxury" resort besides Legoland itself would be Omni at Championsgate or Reunion Resort...they are right off I4 at exit 58, very easy to get on and off I4. According to google maps it is 27 miles and 36 minutes without traffic.
