Luther Vandross has passed away *UPDATED & APOLOGY PAGE 1

My local radio station here in Detroit stated that this is not true, Luther Vandross has not passed away.

I would think they would say something here (NYC area) about it. But I haven't heard anything. I do know that he hasn't come out of his coma and has developed pneuomonia.

This poor man with an incredible talent has been through alot!

I have been checking both news on T.V and Radio but cannot hear anyone confirming this...What a horrible 'rumour' if that's what it is.

Last night CNN said he was in critical but stable condition. Dont know f it has changed for the worse.

I don't know if this is true. I have checked every where and have not been able to find any news of his passing. Hopefully he is still alive and this is just a terrible rumor.

Sorcerermickey, I'm sorry a news station jumped the gun and annouced something that wasn't true. I hate it when they do that.

I think it would be a good idea if we put links in our information threads just to be safe. But no one can fault you for reporting something you heard and assumed was true.
The news stations are becoming irresponsible.

Nothing to aplogize for, Sorcerermickey. If his own site had an obituary, you certainly can not be faulted. And there were a few sites I found last night that did mention his passing. Sure a strange one for sure. Still, my best for him in his recovery. Wow.

Hey there.. I am sorry too.. I did read that he passed away on a net board and on my msn/aol.. msg front pages yesterday at around 4 -5 pm pst.. and now it has all disappeared.... that is really wild/odd how it was posted as major net/web release..

I mean the link I offered was from his own record company with his obituary. It's truly sad so many people gave out wrong information.

Luther Vandross is a ULTRA talented singer, song writer and producer. He is no one's wantabe, in fact, millions of people wantabe HIM.

I have been a fan of his since the early 80s. He produced Aretha Franklin's "comeback" album and they had a big concert for her at Carnegie Hall. All I wanted to do was meet the young genius who produced the album. He was the lead singer of a group called "Change" and I had never heard such a wonderful, fluid voice on anyone on the radio. After the concert we were invited backstage and while everyone ran to Aretha, I cornered him. He was so gracious, so real, and so SHOCKED that I wanted HIS autograph.

In my world, all you have to say is "Luther" and everyone knows who you're talking about. He is one of a kind.

I love Luther!! He has the voice of an angel. His song Here & Now is mine & Dh's song.
My brother heard on the radio a couple weeks ago that he had died. I don't know why those rumors keep going around.

Thanks Robinrs for the information on Luther. I honestly had never heard of the man before. What a shame that a man 52 years of age would have such a massive stroke.
