We will be taking a lunch in the parks to cut down on the cost of this trip. I'm trying to come up with some different foods for us to make. We are staying in a timeshare so we have a full kitchen. What do you put in your lunch?

We wont have a full kitchen...just a fridge. We are planning on doing peanut butter sandwiches and chips/pretzels w/ water/juice as it doesn't go bad in the heat like cheese. We are also considering packing lunchables that can fit into a cooler (we dont do sandwiches in a cooler because they get soggy and kids refuse them) that we will put in a locker or hang on the stroller. It also helps us keep our kids from pigging out on chicken and fries everyday...LOL.

We carry a backpack cooler and as long as you separate the ice from the sandwiches, they won't get soggy. A large plastic container fits in the bottom of this backpack nicely and will hold 6 sandwiches just fine.

We carry enough for snacks and full lunch for 5 of us including 6 water bottles.

We carry PB&J usually for our sandwiches
Nuts
Raisins/Craisins
Ice water
Gatoraid
string cheese
pringles can (fits in the mesh on the side of the backpack cooler)
Apple slices
crackers (lance type prepackaged)
carrot sticks
granola bars

I like the backpack cooler and pringles on the side of the bag. I usually left out the chips because they kept getting squished. The rest of my family will eat cheez doodle :sad2: I think they are gross. Last year I was waiting for a show to start right next to someone with a yummy smelling veggie sandwich. I like meat but ooooo did that thing smell good. I have to separate my sandwich fillings into containers and assemble it before I can eat it. I don't like soggy either. Thanks for the ideas. Keep them coming. I'm off to explore kraft foods website.

My favorite-cold fried chicken! My local grocery store has the best, at WDW with no car I will usually stop by Trails end at Ft Wilderness. Dolphin also has some very good rotiserrie chicken at Picabu's We ditch or eat the fries right away and save the chicken for the next day. I can stock up on sides either left overs or chips and fruit. It's filling I don't really have to worry about it getting smushed, you do have to keep it cold in order to keep it safe though. I usually keep it towards the bottom of a cooler with the ice wrapped around it. This is a must & tradition for us on DHS days since the counter service is well you know.....

If you have a cooler bag begals and cream cheese with some turkey, ham or veggies hold up well. Individual pringles packages, popcorn in bags, cheese sticks, apple slices, carrots, if you freeze go-gert the night before it makes a nice snack mid-morning.

Cold left-over pizza. Order an extra pizza one night for dinner and bring the left-overs in a cooler... Yum.

On our first parent only trip (since kids) last month we tried Earl of Sandwich in DTD. We loved it. It hit me that I really just wanted something different from the typical pb&j or ham and cheese. Those sandwiches are fine for the kids. It is me who needs something my exciting for my palate. I googled them and took a look at their menu. All I need to do is duplicate some of those sandwiches and I will have a cheap party in my mouth for lunch. :cool1: I'm officially excited about eating cheaper in the parks. Look out Orlando Walmart I will be there in 3 days and I will need a weeks worth of ham, salami, and turkey. :rotfl:

If you like chicken salad tyson makes individual chicken salad kits for about $2 each. They have a can of chicken, a packet of mayo, a packet of relish, and a few crackers. They come in a cup to mix in, and have a small wooden spoon to stir with. I bring these in my lunch to work a lot. They do not need to be refrigerated.
