Lunch options--resort near MK?

Help please! Hubby and I are planning a last minute trip to WDW in April. Typically on MK days, we do rope drop, go back to our resort for lunch/swim/nap before heading back to the park to close out the night. This time to save $$ we are staying offsite. To give us a break midday I thought it would be a good idea to book a lunch ADR (or even find a quick service restaurant) at a nearby resort.

This is where your help comes in. Budget isn't huge...and hubby has simple tastes (no seafood, Asian, basically a good cheeseburger is ideal). Thoughts on the best place to go??

Last summer we ate at the Contempo Cafe in the CR. We thought it was really good. We each had a flatbread.

You also have Gasparillas at GF. They have great make your own salads. They have sandwiches and burgers too.

Poly has Captain Cooks but I never ate there so can't recommend.

I like roaring forks at the wilderness lodge, although it isn't on the monorail loop. Have heard many good things about Captain cooks at the Poly

If you feel like taking a nice boat ride then head over to either Fort Wilderness for lunch at Trail's End or to Wilderness Lodge for lunch at either Roaring Forks or Whispering Canyon Cafe. Both locations take you out of the craziest of Magic Kingdom. WL has the benefit of the lovely lobby if you just want to relax for awhile.

You might want to check the menus for the three monorail resorts as well as the menus for Trail's End and WL restaurants to see which menus appeal to you.

Captain Cook's at the Poly.

Simple fare, a monorail ride, and the chance to wander around the Poly.

If you don't want to leave then I'd just eat at The Plaza. If leaving then I'd go to The Wave at the Contemporary. Probably my favorite table service restaurant on the monorail loop.

I suggest checking out the menus at the resorts and figure out what sounds best in your budget. For MK area resorts, I would check out the three monorail resorts as well as WL or FW, which are just a boat ride away.

I see the above pp has some links to the QS at the monorail resorts, but here is the main link for the various menus based on location: http://allears.net/dining/location.

I know you said maybe just QS, but if you're looking to really relax and want a good burger, consider maybe The Wave at the Contemporary. Went there for lunch last year and it was amazing. One of the best burgers I've had in a long time!! And it's so quiet and relaxing in there. I think the burger was still under $20 and it was just nice to sit back and take your time with a sit-down meal rather than a QS. I highly recommend it!

Thank you all for your replies - this is very helpful! I'll show the menus to my husband and see which one he prefers...thankfully I can find something to eat just about anywhere :yay:

:thanks:

If not too hot to be outside, I think the primary pool bar at Grand Floridian is great. I had a chicken salad sandwich there that I still think about!

Depending on how big a lunch you're looking for, I believe the lounges open at noon or 1 so pork nachos at Tambu Lounge or arancini at Mizner's could be an option. Or share an item from each quick serves along the monorail route & take some time to check out the resort- that could be fun.

For table service, Wave, Kona or Grand Floridian Cafe all solid choices. I've been no help at all, haha... Have fun!!

A nice boat ride is a good idea. I try and head over to WL from the CR boat dock every time I go to WDW. However, I haven't been to FW since 1978! I think I may give Trail's End a try in May--this would be a good diversion from a day at the Parks--see how it's changed in 38 years.

Contempo Café is pretty good and not usually crowded during the day... and, the cupcakes are awesome!!

We LOVE Contempo Cafe at the Contemporary!

DH's favorite is Captain Cooks but I'd opt for Contempo personally.
