Thinking about having lunch at a resort on the monorail loop. We've done all the TS restaurants at MK and want to try something different in the moderate price range. The three restaurants I am looking at are The Wave at CR, Kona Cafe at Poly and Grand Floridian Cafe. Any experiences would be welcomed, I've not eaten at any of them.

We will probably get to MK at rope drop go wide open until 1 or so and was thinking about going to one of these restaurants around 2 pm. Probably have a mid-morning snack at MK.

I have had a bad experience with the Wave, so I would not recommend that. I have a deathly tree nut allergy and the chefs there were clueless and not as good as the other Disney chefs. We go down every year to Disneyworld, and one of the reasons is because it is one of the few places I feel safe eating. The food was mediocre at best as well. I personally would not recommend Kona, either. We used go to Kona for breakfast so we could get Tonga Toast, until we found out that Captain Cook's downstairs also has Tonga Toast and it's cheaper and just as tasty. This past year we went for lunch, and the portions were tiny and expensive. The food was about $20, but I left feeling hungry. We had the lo mein dish and it was not close to as good as a PF Chang's. I have not eaten at Grand Floridian Cafe in years, but by process of elimination, it is the only place I could say would be worth a shot.

I would suggest The Wave or GFC based on personal experience. We have a FABULOUS lunch at both last trip. The food is great and the service was more than attentive. The Reuben at The Wave was teh best I have ever had anywhere.

We did not have a good breakfast at Kona last trip but we plan to try them for lunch next trip to give them another shot.

I've had lunch at Kona and at GFC, and I'd highly recommend the GFC. I love their caesar salad. I've had it once with chicken, once with shrimp, and loved it both times.

I have had a bad experience with the Wave, so I would not recommend that. I have a deathly tree nut allergy and the chefs there were clueless and not as good as the other Disney chefs.

If you don't mind my asking, what happened?

I have a severe tree nut allergy as well and have never had a problem at Disney; I'm curious to know what your experience was.

We highly recommend The Wave. We've had excellent food and excellent service there, including special attention as vegetarians. Great place. :thumbsup2
