So...last year we found that we were really tired of the options at the two snack bars for lunch at HHI by the end of the week. Yet, we plan to stay at the resort and "play" for most of each day. I'd also like to save some $$ and plan to buy as many groceries as possible at home and take them with us. We'll go out for dinners.
So, I am trying to think of lunches that I can pack that won't spoil in the sun, but are a bit different then the same things we eat at home every day (we'll take a little soft-sided cooler...and we'll have our "mugs" for drinks). I'm also bringing a larger cooler in the car....so I could store some food if I make a point of keeping it iced up.
We're booked for a studio, so we don't have as many options for cooking as we would with a one-bedroom. I'm also somewhat limited for refrigerator space with a studio fridge.
I'm thinking:
cold-cut sandwiches (which is usually what we have at home)
PBJ
Swiss Cheese and Red Pepper
Really would like to do chicken salad---but afraid it would spoil.
Do you think I could reheat hotdogs wrapped with crescent roll dough (that i'll make ahead of time) and pack them for lunch in foil to keep them warm? The kids don't get to eat a lot of hot dogs at home--so this would be a treat for them.
Any ideas?
