What did people choose that did a lunch buffet and how did you keep costs down?

THanks!

I am having a lunch buffet, but I don't think mine is cost effective. It's a HUGE amount of food but we wanted to make sure people were fed well.

We built our menu from the Wishes wedding menus and we also added a few things from WDW restuarants that we love.

You can customize the menus they give you, so
1) I took out the fish and put in a pasta dish ( my family isn't that big on fish but LOVE pasta, so it made sense) so we had a chicken and a pork choice with pasta and grilled vegetables.
2) I requested that they change one of the salads on the menu to Italian Wedding soup.
3)I also took out the dessert since we were having cake and then the dessert party later.

If I remember correctly, we saved about $12 a head.

I just emailed my planner with my requests and she would talk to the chef/kitchen about it and come back with a per person estimate.

We didn't really have one. We had an escpae wedding and the original plan was that we'd do the cake cutting at Sea Breeze point, followed by family pictures while the cake was being tranported to The Attic to be served later after lunch. Then the families would walk one way around the Boardwalk to The Attic while we walked the other way and took some pictures by ourselves. We'd all meet at the attic, and then go up for lunch and the cake, no cocktail hour needed.

But due to the high winds on our wedding day, our cake cutting was moved inside to The Attic.

So our planner had the bar open earlier than it was supposed to and we took pictures while we waited to cut the cake.

Then, it was toasts and cake cutting and we opened the buffet right after that.

It was a bit of a scramble, but the best we could do and better than having bugs in our cake!

I'm sure a bride who had a cocktail hour will come along to help you out though!:goodvibes

It was delicious, at our tasting I could've eaten the whole display, lol.

That's such a good idea. I am clueless when it comes to the menus and food. I feel like because of the bridal party being so large and my immediate family being large a good amount of people won't even be at the cocktail hour for hte entire time. So i just want something simple and good and then of course after the buffet everyone will be stuffed.

You could do a cheese or antipasto display, I've heard they're very good.
