Is there both indoor and outdoor seating? If you had lunch there, did you enjoy it? That Ploughman's Salad sounds good, and I might give it a try.

TIA!

They have both indoor and outdoor seating. The food is great. Try to sit outside on the water if you like to watch the boats go by while you eat. Have fun.

R & C is a 'must do' for us. :sunny:

We have eaten on the outside terrace, which faces, the lake. It will be tented during chillier or rainy weather. The tent is clear so you will still have viewing. It is chilly for some folks. Fine for us, but we're from New Hampshire where the 1st few days in the mid-forties are shorts weather! :thumbsup2

The dining room is nice, too. All dark woods, beams.
There is also pub grub in the bar section

We like all the luncheon entrees.
We start with the cheese sampler, which is more than enough for the 3 of us.
there are 2 sizes of flights (samplers) of beers. DH goes for the 7 (I thinks it's 5 & 7 for choices)
If we have room, we all share the chef's dessert sampler--which is 3 desserts
sticky toffee pudding, the Guiness cake & an apple dessert, I believe.

Cheers!
Jean

This is so funny -- I was just on the phone making our lunch reservations for the Rose & Crown in September! Our entire family loves that restaurant for lunch or dinner. Obviously dinner gets high marks if you're lucky enough to sit outside on the patio for the fireworks, but we love it even more at lunch, when the restaurant is generally less crowded. My husband adored the old menu item that was the Ploughman's Lunch -- notably not "salad," so I don't know if they're the same or not. Since that dish is gone, he'll revert to the old reliable Bangers & Mash.

Personally, I just can't get enough of the fish & chips. The kids usually get a variation on chicken, and they've never said "no" to a meal at the Rose & Crown. I say go for it -- you'll probably love a lunch there!

I thoroughly enjoy lunch at R&C- I like the cheese and fruit sampler for an appetizer, the cottage pie entree and the toffee pudding for dessert washed down by a couple of pints (coffee with the dessert though!).

We ate there for the first time last December and have an ADR for our next trip in August. I had the cottage pie. DH had guiness stew. DD(15) had chicken pasty and DD(12) had the kid's grilled chicken. Everyone enjoyed it very much. My kids are actually the ones who requested to go back to "England".
