We have reservations for Lunch with the Princesses at the Castle for our January 06 trip. Has anyone eaten there recently? The menu I found on another website didn't look too great. I'm wondering if the experience is really worth the price. Our DD is 4 1/2 and our DS is 9. DD loves the Princesses but we have lots of other character dining booked for our trip. So what I'm asking is how good is the food and how great is the experience?

Our view is almost certainly jaded as lunch at King Stephan's (now CRT) was a tradition for us even before breakfast was offered.

We preferred lunch a la carte and sans characters.

But the atmosphere is Disney at its absolute best. The characters were also very good the one time we've had lunch there since it switched to a character meal. And service is very good. The gentleman who announced the princesses the day we were there did a fantastic job....just so much fun. He's been a great server there for years and I'm sorry I can't think of his name...but he has a dimple in his chin. :)

The food is OK.

Only you can decide if it is worth it according to your budget. But the castle IS special!

And welcome to the DIS!

We ate there this August and loved it. The atmosphere was fabulous and we really got a kick out being called "m'lady" and "prince" and "princess". My DD7's chicken strips were well...chicken strips (which is good cuz if they were fancy we'd have drama). DS11 had the salmon (he had salmon at every TS meal, he said mine is still best ..awww... but of the WDW salmon this was his fav). I had the Major Domo pie and my son's grilled asparagus. I'd have to say this was one of my favorite meals at WDW. The Major Domo pie was rich, creamy, meaty, crispy, and flaky all at the same time..soo good. My son claimed the seafood appetizers and didn't really care for them. I liked the little salad and fresh mozzarella. There was no choice on the dessert really-kids got a scoop of ice cream with sprinkles and a chocolate crown. Adult dessert was a blueberry thing, a warm muffin-y thing that was warm and moist with a cream cheese type filling in the middle with lemon ice cream and a drizzle of raspberry sherbert. The character interaction was also good, we enjoyed the princesses and it was very efficiently done.

We were there over August and the food was ok.If you are looking for the spectacular gourmet delight it really isn't there, but it isn't bad either! It was the atmosphere and the magic of seeing my daughter intereact with the princesses that was priceless!!

I can't wait to try the major Domo pie. I figure that I may as well go, since they will be 2 credits when I return. I don't think it is worth 2 credits, but for one I jumped on the reservation which was a cancellation by the way.

Once the meals become 2 credits, I will probably never set foot in there ever again.

That sounds like David. He is simply wonderful and I think when I am working in the castle I see just as many Guests taking a picture with him as they do the princesses! He is so nice to work with but unfortunately is on vacation till after the start of the new year. We miss you David! Have fun on your well deserved time off!! :goodvibes

Thank you! It is David. We've had him as a server a number of times and he is great. :sunny: We didn't have him this last trip but still got to enjoy him as he introduced the princesses.

DH and I ate there for dinner (no characters) and we loved the food! But I think the food for the character meals is a fixed menu, so it may be more like "banquet" food rather than true "restaurant" food that's made to order, so that could be the differance.

Lady Belle, just as lunch changed this year from a la carte to a character meal with only a few choices for entrees dinner is changing too.

We were there about 2 weeks ago and it was a lot of fun. There was a young couple there and their server brought out a ring and the man proposed  The young woman started to cry and cry she was so happy (o.k. I teared up too  ) It was well worth it for us to go there once to see inside the castle, but I don't think we would do it again. We enjoyed the food, but I think next time we would try more/different places....
