Has anyone heard about or tried the lunch at the castle? I can't see paying $30 for eggs, so I thought lunch was a better idea. Is it a pre-plated deal like breakfast? Any opinions would be helpful as I am trying to plan for my daughters 7th birthday meal.
Thanks!

We had lunch at the castle a couple of weeks ago. We used to enjoy lunch there very much when it was a la carte. We are returning one last time for old times sake in January so our daughter can join us but then that's it for us.

There is a small assortment of appetizers that is preplated. Didn't care for them. You get a choice of entrees. Salmon, a pork dish, a foccacia sandwich with turkey and ham, a couple of others. The dessert is a blueberry lemon thing that was just OK IOO. Kids dessert is a scoop of ice cream with sprinkles and a darling chocolate crown. There is also a choice of entree for kids. The sandwich which has been my favorite is about half the size it used to be. While it is still a fine size for a sandwich, it is not worth $40.

The princess interaction was fine. The castle setting itself is wonderful and worth it if you've never been.

Can an adult get the kids' dessert? Not that I'll NEED the extra calories, but I can think of very few things less appatizing than something blueberry/lemon. Maybe if they added coconut. :crazy2:

I had this reserved 2X and cancelled both times. Just couldn't decide about that funky menu. I was given differing info regarding the menu and just couldn't get the REAL TRUE answer from CRO.

The last person I spoke with told me that there are no special kids' desserts anymore. The table would share the blueberry thing. There is a kids menu (but I think it is overpriced) The appetizers don't sound appealing to me & I didn't think my kids would eat them, either.

One person at CRO told me that by March (when I had it booked) they would be returning to a menu selection. Another told me that was not true. :confused3

It was going to cost us almost $180 for 5 people to dine there for lunch and $170 for bfast. No way unless I get to CHOOSE what I eat. :earboy2:

Happy planning!

Well, they still had the children's dessert two weeks ago because they were kind enough to bring it to our son who is diabetic. I can count carbs for ice cream but have no clue for a dessert like that served to the adults. We asked for no sprinkles and I removed the chocolate crown. Of course, he reached over and popped the crown in his mouth anyway but he survived. ;) There is no choice of kids desserts though.

The lemon blueberry thing was sort of like a raised coffee cake. Very sugary, not tart or anything and did have some nice berries on it which we enjoyed. But the it just wasn't worth the calories for us.

We got the ressies and went about a month ago because my dd4 HAD to have her lunch in the castle. I wasn't going in with the best impression of the food. I was VERY impressed. The apps were VERY good and I'm craving those seafood wontons! The children's app was cheese and fruit and it was really nice. The selections were very limited, but we had a party of 7 and not ONE of us had any complaints about the food. I thought I was going to be a bit put off by dessert too, but it ROCKED! If the prices weren't through the roof now, I'd go again.

When are you going? It looks like the menus (and prices) are changing effective Feb 1.
